Lightroom crashes all the time. Its slow. Its engineers refuse to respond to the group thread. Kind of an overall problem with the company, so it seems...

While I have not experienced this with Lightroom I could not agree more with how lame their support is. Its like we got your money so just go away sort of attitude they have.

If you are having issues with it crashing I would not rule out the possibility of some other problem. Could be an issue with a plugin or some other third party software and maybe your computer is the bottleneck. Could be a number of causes and I know from experience it is not always what I first thought.

Get a Creative Cloud Subscription they said, one advantage would be more frequent updates and bugfixes than with traditional release cycles they said...

Windows or Mac? Version of Lightroom? Please copy-n-paste the Lightroom>Help>System Info... here.

My guess is it has to do with the GPU driver? Try go to the Lightroom user preferences dialog and turn off the GPU acceleration and see if it helps.

GPU acceleration is already set to off and has been since you and Radeon cannot seem to get along. 2 machines, both Windows. Windows 7 Ultimate (AMD Processor, Radeon Graphics Card) and Windows 10 Home (Intel Processor and Nvidia graphics card)

For the AMD Radeon issue, there is a documented workaround that seems to work for many people. See https://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/lightroom-crashing-with-gpu-acceleration-on.

Please double-check the GPU is really off. On Windows you need to click the "Ok" button to commit the pref change.

Its off. And its happening on both the NVIDIA and AMD system. Please read my response above rather than repeat what I have already done.

What do you do in Lightroom that will cause it to crash?

Watch any sort of streaming video. HBO Go is the one that causes it the most. Save from Photomatix. Save from Affinity photo. Switch to the Develop module. Optimize catalog. Really it can crash all on its own just doing any sort of multitask.
