Lightroom: "Internal error" when initiating multiple headless merges

LR 7 finally added queuing of multiple HDR and panorama merge operations, letting you kick off multiple merges without grinding LR to a halt.  But if you select multiple collapsed stacks and try to initiate a headless merge on all of them at once, you get "An internal error occurred".  The tedious workaround is to select each collapsed stack in turn and do Shift + Ctrl + H (headless HDR merge) or Shift + Ctrl + M (headless panorama).   LR 7 came so close to full batch merging...

To reproduce:

1. Select 20 raw files.

2. Do Photo > Create Virtual Copy.  This will create virtual copies of the 20 raws, making 20 stacks.

3. Do Photo > Stacking > Collapse All Stacks.

4. Select all 20 stacks.

5. Do Shift + Ctrl + H.

6. After a few seconds, observe the error message "An internal error has occurred. Unable to merge the photos."

Tested on LR 7.0 / OS X 10.12.6.

I think it is trying to do do one panorama or her with all the stacks. It needs to be further developed to support this. I think...

Indeed, not being able to select all your stacks and hit one button/key combination seems like such an oversight

John,

Does the merge operation of these photos work if you are using using 'Photos->Photo Merge' menu option?

I get the same results if, instead of typing Shift + Ctrl + H, I hold down Shift and do Photo > Photo Merge > HDR.
