Lightroom: High CPU use when left idle

If Lightroom is left idle for a period of several hours, either minimized or open, CPU use increases to 13 - 20% and remains there.  Freshly started Lightroom uses very little CPU and about 1.5gb of memory.  Left alone over night CPU is a constant 13 - 20% and memory use has increased to 4.3gb.   I have tried this with GPU on and off, no difference.
If Lightroom is minimized and left overnight it can take up to 1 minute to fully refresh the screen from clicking on the icon in the tray.  I have video of this and it is repeatable.

Windows 7
Intel 3770
32gb ram
running on 500gb SSD
GeForce GTX 760 video card

Would appreciate any suggestions on what to try and correct this.

Besides Lightoom being a very nasty resource hog... Check if you have face recognition on, or if it syncing to Lightroom mobile or any other automated thing Lightroom might has through a plugin. i.e. run the same test with vanilla Lightroom (all plugins disabled).

Besides that, this sounds like a memory leak and might be a starting point for the developers to investigate in the (hopefully) most important thing on their list for the next Lightroom: "A tremendous increase in overall speed of the application" :)

Resource hog I can deal with, something that goes off on it's own doing something with my CPU time, not so much.

Facial rec is definitely off, I checked that.  I do not use any of the mobile thingys that I know of.  I will check to see if any of that is on.  Never really paid any attention to it.
