Adobe can better deploy their development resources than supporting an obsolete and insecure OS.

To be fair to you, perhaps you bought one of the laptops with non-standard hardware that can't be upgraded to windows 10; my daughter-in-law had one of them. If so, it might also be too slow for Lightroom.

If a new machine is not within your current budget, in the interim you can use the free photo application included with Windows. Just choose a good file structure for organizing your photos and then experiment with it. While not Lightroom it is reasonably competent and supports most raw formats. It's a little clumsy at first but doesn't take long to learn.

If you must have Lightroom then you can buy an older version on eBay, I sold my old ones there.

this is the semi formal adobe support website,
you can find all the obsolete cc version here, full package downloads.
please do some research {{Update i checked my dated win7 machine }} it runs 9.2.1 which seems to be the last to support old operating systems.
so download 9.2.1 it should be good to go with win8.

good luck.

I tried to update to version 10 and I cannot install.
I have to format my computer to install windows 10. I'm not agree to do that.
I appreciate other suggestion.
Thanks

Are you saying that you don't have your data backed up to restore it the eventuality of a drive failure?

Also I've upgraded machines from both Windows 7 and 8 to 10 and was given the option to format keeping or erasing my data and installed programs.

Didn't you try eBay for Lightroom 4 or 5, multiple copies of each are available.

Sounds like software piracy; buying on e-bay??? Terms of original license would be violated...

As long as the seller includes the media, license key and removes all copies from their computer; it's not piracy.

Microsoft ended support for Windows 8 January 9, 2018. Best to bite the bullet and update to Windows 10 for security updates alone.
