Lightroom: export window - make it remember its size

make it remember its size, rather than always opening at the same inconvenient size

My export window remembers its last size and position (LR CC 2015.5.1 / OS X 10.11.4 and Windows 10).  There's probably something specific to your configuration causing problems.  Try resetting LR's preferences: http://www.lightroomforums.net/showthread.php?25197-Resetting-the-lightroom-preferences-file-updated. That often fixes things when LR's interface starts acting screwy.

Does it do that when LR is closed and reopened, or just during a session (like miine does)?

I just retested, and my LR remembers the Export window's size and position across restarts of LR.  Tested with LR 7.0.1 on MacOS 10.12.6 and Windows 10.

On Windows, the Export window does get shorter by three pixels each time, but I don't think that's what you're complaining about?  See this bug:

LR stores window positions in its preferences file, and resetting the preferences can often fix things when the user interface starts misbehaving:
