Lightroom: Does not remember last export location (Mac)

When I export photos from Lightroom, it always chooses an old location, not the location I exported to the last time. In previous versions of Lightroom, it did choose the latest export location as default.

While this is not the end of the world, it is annoying. For example I export some photos to a certain location. After a few minutes I want to export some more photos to the same location, but I have to browse to the destination directory again (because LR gives me a very old location I exported to).

I am using Lightroom CC 2015.7 on an iMac. This problem started a few versions ago.

Hi,
We are not able to reproduce this issue.
Where is the recent exported location? in a network or external hard drive?

Thanks,
Sunil

I've noticed since 2015.7, despite exporting more than a dozen individual photos to the desktop on my Mac, LR continues to pick a folder I exported to last week.

It makes no difference if I use my iMac internal drive or a network drive as export location. LR keeps picking an old export folder as default.

Other people have noticed the same problem. Some people could solve it by deleting and re-creating their export presets, but that doesn't work for me.

Lex, would it be possible for you to share with us a screen capture of your Export dialog?

Sure, no problem.
The screen captures are in Dutch however, I hope you can make any sense of it :)

If you recreate the preset from scratch and save it as a different name does it work as expected?

Unfortunately that makes no difference.
I also tried deleting all presets in Finder and creating a new one, but that didn't work either.

Mirroring your settings, I am unable to duplicate your results.  In my case, Lightroom always returns to the most recently used folder.  Even closing Lightroom and reopening it, Lightroom remembers the last folder.

Have you tried to reset your preference file?
Close Lightroom. Hold down [Opt]+[Shift] and relaunch Lightroom. Overwrite the preferences when prompted.

Does it still pull up the older folder?

It works!
I reset my preference file like you said and now Lightroom remembers the last folder again.

Thank you for your quick replies!

Resetting the Preference file, as explained above, solved the issue for some of the users.

Thanks,
Sunil

We'll plenty of people have reproduced the issue so your answer is not much help. Of course you probably don't have a whole folder of settings created in the earlier version to use. Resetting the preference file is a pain in the ass and might not work, so that's a pretty feeble answer. Maybe you guys should test your products a bit more thoroughly before release

You aren't using 'DefaultFolder' by any chance? That is a very nifty application that enhances 'open' and 'save' dialogs, and one of the things it can also do it set a default folder (hence the name).

No, I've seen that and it looks cool but I prefer to keep my system as free of things that can go wrong as possible, I've had issues with third party apps like that in the past. Also I'd prefer it if Adobes software just did what it was supposed to do in the first place (or what it had been doing for countless years).

This was happening to me. I even edited out the locations in my presets but that didn't change a thing. Resetting prefs worked but boy was that a huge pain to go through to get things back to normal...

I'm using Windows version so this may not apply, but I had to change the "Export To" option to "Specific Folder" instead of "Choose Folder Later" , pick a folder and then actually export some photos to it. After that I reset it to "choose folder later" and the folder I exported to was selected the next time I wanted to Export. It's not perfect, but I picked a high level folder that I was closer in the tree than the one I was stuck with that was buried in the directory. Using 2015.12

I can confirm this on Mac as well. If I temporarily choose "Specific Folder", export one photo to it, then change back to "Choose Folder Later" LR will export to that newly chosen folder every time going forward. Even after quit & restart of LR.

I've had the problem for months and I've come around it with DefaultFolderX but it's only a half-solution as last location is what I'm usually needing, not the same default folder every time (and there's a annoying second as Lightroom Export first opens the wrong default folder and then DefaultFolderX loads the one I've setup).

I don't know what made this problem arise but I guess it's obvious somethings wrong with the Export Presets (as changing temporarily to "Specific Folder" has an effect on this).
