!'ve a new Nikon 7200, and the updated online version of Lightroom, which I run on a new imac. with Yosemite 10.10.4. Lightroom will open but not import raw files, with the message "the files are not recognized by the raw format support in Lightroom. (71) I've looked at the file, and it doesn't appear to be locked. I have read and write permission. "staff" doesn't, but I don't know who that might be.

In Lightroom, go to Help>System Info...

What does it say Lightroom version is?

Make sure you're not starting up LR 5.x, somehow; otherwise:

LR CC 2015.0/LR 6.0 is new enough to handle the D7200 images.

If you have transferred the files using older Nikon software, like came with your previous camera, then the files are corrupted. You need to copy them from the card to the computer hard-drive using something other than the old Nikon software. Even viewing them with ViewNX is enough to corrupt them.

Try using Finder to copy the files from the SD card to the computer and see if they import, then.

That did not work - it is probably because of the version. I subscribe to Adobe so I thought I automatically had the latest version.

I just went out on a trial run with my new 7200 and was anxious to see them in Lightroom. grrrrrrrrrrr arg!

2nd edit: I just logged into Adobe cloud and there it was, the new version of Lightroom sitting there waiting for me. I'll let you know how it works out. Thanks for this forum.

3rd and finally edit: all systems are go!
