I created a new catalogue, imported photos from my external hard disk and started processing, exporting them to the same folder inside the harddisk under a new subdirectory LR_EXPORT. After long work I closed closed the lightroom and ejected my harddisk. After two days I try to plug in the hardisk, when I tried to continue my processing from where I left, I saw the photos were not there. Confused I tried to search all over for the files and other locations, I couldnt find the files anywhere nowhere, however I havent deleted the files too.
Saw this kind of behaviour with lightroom when I Googled. My files, roughly 800 plus photos have vanished from my disk. What could have caused this issue? I would like to know more one this, and any means I could recover them.

Let's start from the top. Which LR version? Which operating system? Are the exported files there? Which photos aren't there? Originals? Exported files? Are they still showing in the catalog, but marked as missing? Are they still there when you search in Explorer or Finder?

I forgot to mention that, I use MAC (10.11.6 (15G31)), the latest lightroom version.
The exported files are into my systems ~/Pictures/<year>/<date>/LR_EXPORT.
The lightroom shows the images but says missing.
When I tried to open that from lightroom, show in finder, the files arent in the external harddisk.

Hi Victoria
I got the files back, the problem seems to be the Segate harddisk when connected to MAC. When mounted with the Segate's driver I got those files in the directory, seems the Segate malfunction sometimes with NTFS harddisk in MAC.
Is there an option delete this question? Or to mark an answer to this question and close this?

I am compelled to write this question after two hours of struggle to know the cause of the vanishing and a reasonably good way to recover them.

Thank you for your prompt support.
