Lightroom Classic: Cursor move does not highlight image border

With the newest release of Lightroom classic, when I am in grid view and want to highlight a new image I would normally move or hover the mouse to the image I want to highlight.  The border lightens and signals I can click to select that image.  With this release, move the mouse does not always highlight an image, so it can not be selected with the mouse.  I noticed an image with a thin border will not highlight at all with the mouse.  The adjacent image border will highlight if the cursor is in certain positions, the image next to that will highlight the border no matter the cursor position.  Using the arrow keys works and selects the next image.

I don't observe that problem behavior in my LR 9.3 / Mac OS 10.15.5. As a first step, I recommend resetting LR's preferences:

LR sometimes soils its preferences file, and resetting it can fix all sorts of funky behavior.

If that doesn't help, do these next steps:

1. Do the LR menu command Help > System Info and copy the first ten lines here.

2. Make a screen recording of the issue that includes the entire LR window. Upload the recording to Youtube, Dropbox, or similar and post the sharing link here:

David,

You posted a couple of threads regarding mouse interactions. It is like you have a system specific issue with your installation. John's suggestion to reset preferences is a good one. Next, start looking at mouse drivers and settings.
