Lightroom is crashing in development mode (black screen) with latest driver and GPU Radeon RX 590. Looking on history seems like Lightroom experiences the same problem every year...

Hi Michael,

I see the following entries in your Lightroom system info,

Graphics Processor Info:
OpenGL: Radeon RX 590 Series

So your system is setup to use the OpenGL instead of DirectX, which should be the Windows default. Lightroom could decide to fallback to OpenGL if it determines the DirectX support isn't adequate for your machine in the past.

To reset that manually delete the following GPU preference file from your system:

Windows:

\Users\[user name]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CameraRaw\GPU\Camera Raw GPU Config.txt

macOS:

/Users/[user name]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CameraRaw/GPU/Camera Raw GPU Config.txt

And then relaunch Lightroom. Check what the Lightroom System info report says. Ideally, it should report it is using DirectX.
