I have the same problem with Lightroom crashing before it even gets to loading a catalog. I have an iMac and it is on Mavericks, OS X 10.9.5 The problem is not just with High Sierra. Please can this be looked into and sorted.

Do you see a crash dialog appear? If so, can you post the crash log?

No. I do see a very detailed crash report which goes to Apple. I could copy and paste it into a Word file and send to you if you let me know where to send it. I can't get to a crash dialogue.

Can you just copy and paste the report you see?

Here's how to (re)enable crash reporter: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/submit-crash-reports.html

What version of Lightroom is crashing for you? Lightroom Classic (7.x) nor Lightroom CC runs on 10.9.

I did reenable the crash report (which said it was not displaying but sending all reports to Adobe) and when it next crashed I sent the report to Adobe - a few moments ago at 0723 British time.

Can I downgrade to the previous version of Lightroom that I had (until last October about) as that did all that I wanted from Lightroom?

It already looks like you're using an old version 6.14. The current version is 7.2.

I rely on Adobe Creative Cloud to download updates. Maybe it realises that the version I have is the last one which will work with Mavericks? I pay monthly for the phtography option of Photoshop and Lightroom.

6.6.1 was the last supported on Mavericks, and that report looks like you're trying to run 6.14 which is later.

Simplest solution would be to update your operating system. Otherwise, uninstalling, then installing 6.0 then 6.6.1 patch would probably work. Download links on this page should work: https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/kb/lightroom-downloads.html

I had come to the same conclusion! I will have my computer updated to El Capitan which I think will mean that Lightroom CC continues to work. It does puzzle me that I have never updated Lightroom except when prompted by Creative Cloud and there was no warning that my system would not support the update.

And in addition, many thanks for the advice. I have downloaded 6 which works perfectly and reliably for me. It worked with my catalog and enabled me to work on some photos that couldn't really wait for El Capitan. I will try the patch for 6.6.1 later today.
