I don't find any crash reports under your email address used on this forum.  I checked Lightroom Classic 9.2.1 and 9.2.  What version do you currently have installed?

Do you see a crash dialog from Adobe and are you filling it out and sending it with your email?

Lightroom won’t open at all — it flashes the opening loading screen and then is gone. So there isn’t an opportunity to send a crash report. I tend to keep everything updated, but I can’t confirm the version until I load it.

Easy Peasy! It's probably a hosed application state or cache. Download the free Onyx (https://www.titanium-software.fr/en/onyx.html), select the Onyx version for your OS, Catalina, download, run it, reboot.

In Onyx run almost everything in the Maintenance tab, deselecting things you may not want deleted, like Launch Services . Hit the "Options" button across from Internet and deselect more stuff like Cookies & Other Site Data, Browser History, Form Values, etc. (most of these are OFF by default). If you don’t know what something is, google it, or don’t run it, or ask me), then hit Run Tasks. After it's done it will ask for a reboot.

I upgraded my iMac to Catalina 10.15.5 on Sunday, and it's fine.

In that case, you could be having an OS crash and not a Lightroom App Crash.

Prudent first steps:

Often times, simply performing a clean reinstall of the latest version of Lightroom will clear unexpected issues.
  1. Close Lightroom
  2. Restart the computer
  3. Use the Adobe Creative Cloud App to uninstall Lightroom Classic
  4. Restart the computer
  5. Install Lightroom Classic via the Creative Cloud App without launching any other programs.
  6. Restart the computer
  7. Launch Lightroom
  8. Wait 5 minute.
A Preference File will survive a Lightroom uninstall/reinstall. Sometimes weird behavior is corrected/cured by resetting the preferences.

Reset Procedure:

1. Close Lightroom.
2. Hold down [Alt/Opt]+[Shift] while restarting Lightroom.
3. Overwrite the Preferences when prompted by the dialog.
4. Close Lightroom.
5. Restart Lightroom.

Does the crash continue after resetting the preferences?

Try to disconnect from the internet until the LR starts, then connect again without problem.
