Lightroom Classic Slideshow Missing images & Some images not cleared

When viewing even a simple slideshow with Lightroom Classic CC (v8.1, build 1200465 on OSX) about 1 in 20 photos will not display on manual advance. Instead I get a black screen indefinitely--the image is never deplayed. If I advance again and then go back the images are displayed fine (and quickly). This is a frustrating bug and one that really disrupts the flow of the slideshow.

In addition, occasionally an image with a wider aspect ratio (e.g. a landscape orientation) will not be properly cleared when advanced to see the next image with a narrower aspect ratio (e.g. portrait orientation). This is very distracting and I don't know a work around.

Note: I did wait for the full creation of previews, have recently restarted lightroom (had to to get audio to come out of the projector even though Mac music would play), same problem in both impromptu and slideshow module, normal and high quality, etc. Oh I and I am running on a fairly fast and new MacBook Pro with Touchbar, 16GB RAM, 3.5GHz dual i7, video card acceleration enabled in lightroom, etc. so should be plenty of horsepower. OSX=10.13.6.

How long since your preference file has been reset. Before proceeding anywhere else, I would recommend that. This would also be applicable to your other thread:

A Preference File will survive a Lightroom uninstall/reinstall. Sometimes weird behavior is corrected/cured by resetting the preferences.
Reset Procedure:

1. Close Lightroom.
2. Hold down [Alt/Opt]+[Shift] while restarting Lightroom.
3. Overwrite the Preferences when prompted by the dialog.
4. Close Lightroom.
5. Restart Lightroom.

Does the behavior continue after resetting the preferences?
