Lightroom Classic: Multiple Brushes Very Slow in Window 10

The more brush strokes or brushes I add, the slower things get until Lightroom's slow response makes Windows 10 think that the program is not responding. Sure, I can use Photoshop for brushing, but I prefer to use Lightroom (and wish for the speed it had back in rev 4!). I've tried clearing history steps, updating previews, clearing caches, etc., to no avail. Yes, I'm using a 4K monitor, but this is 2019. Additional info: Lightroom Classic 8.4.1, 16GB RAM, 200GB freespace on an internal SSD, GPU set to auto.

It's at the point that the software is always in my way of the enjoyment of the art.

I don't want to stop your hopes for LRC improvements, but maybe the pairing of LRC and PS is for good reason. I use LRC as a catalog to easily preview my photos and apply general adjustments and a few small tweaks, but when an image needs extensive editing, I use PS. It seems to me that LRC is re-calcuating the pipeline of all those filters and adjustments almost every time it needs to redraw the display, and while that might be improved, it's never going to be a drawing program like Photoshop.

You may be right. But either a feature works or it doesn't--almost isn't good enough, especially when we get constant updates. Lightroom was an incredible program feature set. I just wish Adobe hadn't ruined it by "improving" it.

Ha. Well, yes, I agree that some of their improvements have increased the burden. They probably need to rethink their codebase and I hope this isn't part of a plan to move everyone onto the new Cloudy version, cause I'm not going there. Here's hoping they can improve LRC.

If you set GPU to off, instead of Auto do you see the same speed on Adjustment Brushes or does it improve?
