Lightroom Classic: Making a collection from Map Pin doesn't add any images

This new version of Lightroom has a feature that lets you make a collection from a map pin. Doesn't seem to work on mine, just creates a folder with no image in it.  Anybody else tried it?

Note: This conversation was created from a reply on: Lightroom Classic 7.2 is now available!.

Does this happen for all pins? Can you confirm that there are images associated with the Pin you're converting?

Yes it happens for all pins. I right click (Mac) on the orange map pin and choose 'Create Collection', give it a name and then it makes a collection with '0' images in it, even though I selected a map pin with many images assigned to it. I've tried restarting the  application and computer but with the same result.

I also have this problem. Right click on the orange pin, select "Create selection" in the menu. The collection is created but with 0 photos in it.

I did a test on 2 other computers, one running Windows 10 and one running Windows 7.
I have the problem on the PC running Windows 7 but not on the PC running Windows 10.
To summarize, I have the problem on the 2 PC running Windows 7, but not on the PC running Windows 10. It looks like this problem is OS related.
Hope this helps.

I'm having the exact same problem, but I am running Windows 10:-

Lightroom Classic version: 7.2 [ 1156743 ]
License: Creative Cloud
Language setting: en
Operating system: Windows 10 - Business Edition
Version: 10.0.16299
Application architecture: x64
System architecture: x64
Logical processor count: 8
Processor speed: 4.2 GHz
Built-in memory: 16242.2 MB

As an fyi, all of my images are reverse geo-coded (ie my camera doesn't have GPS so I manually locate the images onto the map, in the Map module)

Smit - do you still need a video recording of the behaviour?

Tx,
Bob

Creating a new collection from pinned map images works fine for me. Just tested it right now with a new collection with 2 images found pinned on my map.   Lightroom Classic 7.3 / Windows 10 x64 bit

Sadly, mine still does not work (LR Classic 7.3 / W10 x64) - a collection is created, but with zero images.

An update:
I have just created a new empty catalog and added the folder that I'd tested above to the new catalog. Now creating a collection from pinned images does work, so it appears that my old catalog has some problems (actually, I'm sure it does, because like other folks some of my edited images lost their history during the upgrade to LR Classic)

It'll be a bit of a task, but I'll transfer all of my images to the new catalog, so for me this problem is solved.

Win 7 x64 LR 7.3.
I still have the problem. I tried to create a new catalog with just few photos, but no luck. The collection is created, but with 0 images in it.
Problem not fixed for me.

Same problem for me. Even if I create a new catalog, a collection from a maps pin will be added as an empty collection.

I just checked to see if it still works for me (see my prev response above), and no, it doesn't any more - an empty collection is created. It's not a feature I use, but if it's provided, it should work.

Clicking the pin will select the images, which can then be added to a collection, so I guess there is a workaround if needed.

I justed checked this too: here it works like it supposed to.

  • 1st test: click the pin (i see the images beeing selected), rightclick and choose 'make collection'
  • 2nd test: immediately rightclick the pin ( i don't see the images beeing selected) and choose 'make collection'.
Both attempts were succesfully.
