My Lightroom Classic is crashing constantly.  I'm working on a Mac.  Any help would be great right now.

I am having the same issue - constantly closes down, and I have to restart.  All I am doing is browsing through the library - and it just shuts down without warning.

I've sent multiples of the crash report over the last several days days with my email....nothing back about it.  Mine crashes on start up.  Cannot even get to edit>preferences No catalog loads at all and when I hit send report it closes the partial Lightroom window that tried to open. No smiley face here Wish to heck I had never upgraded as it is hardly an upgrade when totally unusable

Hi Deb, I see that a bug was logged for the crash that you've reported. Does the crash happen on every Lr launch? Does it help if you run Lr Classic CC as an Administrator? Right click "Run as administrator".

Yes, every start-up.  And yes, I've been trying the run as administrator.  I uninstalled and reinstalled for about the 8th time yesterday and crashed on completion.  I did it over and over.  walked away and it finally opened.  But then up came the crash report.  I haven't clicked on it yet because I know when I do it will automatically close LR and I need to get a few images out.  Also, when I went to export an image, it was showing the last export to be 2015 and my last folder I exported to as 2015.  ???

 Gosh that sounds awful.  My folders were also doing very odd things.  The admin guy on one of these forums was really patronising about it and didn't really believe me.  I deleted the weird folders and started over losing a nights work in the process.  I got a new external hard drive yesterday and it appears to be working a bit better, (my old hard drive almost was full.  Not sure if that was complicating things?) but I'm not editing at the moment, mostly shooting.  I wouldn’t know if LR is really better until I edit next week.

Yes is it awful!  And I just made the dreaded mistake and closed Lightroom after it finally opened and now I'm back to crash on start up.  The only things I see after the opening screen are the headers and footers of  the LR program and a large gray blank space between.

Well, don't know what to do.  I had tried to reinstall my old stand alone LR5 but then received the notice that the catalog had been upgraded and would no longer work for this version...I could go back a ways to an older backup, one that won't have recent work i've done.  And last night I finally, somehow, managed to get Classic to load one more time...by using explorer and following the path to the catalog.  Don't know why it worked as I had tried that route previously.  It did come up with the dreaded crash report, though.  So....close and possibly not be able to get any work done again?  Unsure but thank you and I will keep this under consideration.

If you have a second machine to work with, check if you can run Lr Classic CC there.

Hi Deb,

Looked at the crash reports that you have submitted. I recommend you to revert and stay on the Lr CC 2015.12 for now. We need to investigate the root case (there is a bug logged) for your specific case. It seems have to do with your specific version of Windows configuration. Apologize for the inconvenience. You can go to https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/kb/lightroom-downloads.html to download the reinstall Lr CC 2015.12 (6.12). You would first download and install the Lr CC 2015 (6.0) package and then download and install the Lr CC 2015.12 (6.12) patch on top it the base install.

Is  Lr CC 2015 (6.0) , as you noted above,  the same as Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 6? which is what I get from the link you provided. Looks more like the stand-alone and not part of the creative cloud subscription

it is the single binary for both perpetual and Lr CC 2015. The feature set is determined by your license type (subscription or perpetual), not the downloaded bits which are the same for both license types.

My LR CC Classic always hangs on my Mac when I wake up my computer, get the spinning wheel. Will not quit and I have to Force quit every time????

Unfortunately, it seems Adobe has no interest in working on the issues with the "new" CC Classic.  They told me to just roll back to the previous version....isn't that wonderful!? Keep paying my monthly subscription for the older version as if that is perfectly acceptable.  However, I too want the new features like everyone else.  I finally found a back way to get into my catalog and make it work but it is a real pain.   Everyone at Adobe is too busy working on the new Lightroom CC as they try and push us into spending even more money with them by buying storage and working solely in the cloud.  

Hope they are nicer to you, and you can get a fix for your issue.

Just to clarify Deb, there's at least 4 different teams involved with Lightroom - ACR, LRCC desktop, LRCCmobile and LRClassic, each looking after their own areas. Simon, who you were talking to above, is one of the longest serving and most experienced engineers on the teams, so he is THE guy to have on the case.

Rolling back to the previous version is just a temporary fix, so you can carry on using Lightroom while they figure out what's up. Trouble is, when it's only happening to one or two people, these issues are hard to track down, but having crash reports gives them a shot.

John, where are your catalog and photos stored? I'm wondering if it's trying to connect to an external drive that's sleeping or a NAS that's slow to reconnect.

Hi Victoria, you may be onto something, I moved it to an external drive to free up space on my SSD drive so maybe that might be the issue? thanks for you reply

Deb's crash was reported as a bug, which is still open for investigation. So far the team hasn't been able to reproduce.

Were all of my many crash reports showing the same bug?
If I attempt to open LRClassic from the icon, LR attempts to open but does not populate library, etc. see screenshot above in older post. Then crash report pops up and completely blocks my ability to click on anything in LR such as the menus to get to preferences. The only thing active is the crash report. If I Click don’t submit or submit, it instantly closes LR.
However, if I go through Explorer to my catalog and select a “bad” catalog (received notice it was corrupted on initial install of this upgrade) I then get the option to select a different catalog. Once I select the newer one created after about the fifth attempt of installing this upgrade, the crash report pops up BUT then Lightroom attempts to open after the crash report. It stalls for awhile and does not populate library, etc at first. But given enough time it will finally complete the launch and is useable. Because going in this order, the crash report is behind the application and therefore Lightroom is active and will stay that way until I click submit or don’t submit on the crash report screen. And, yes, I have to go through this often in order to backup catalog after working in edits and when I need to restart my computer.

Installed this piece of s... just 5 days ago and it has been giving me nothing but crashing, luckily its a free trail but its no way I'd subscribe it after the trail period, its not worth the trouble.

What are you doing when it crashes Cheryl?

My first ports of call would be:

1. Update to 2015.14, if not LR Classic 7.1.

2. Check the graphics card manufacturer's website for an updated driver (or roll back to the previous one, if it started after an update)

3. If it's still crashing, try disabling Preferences > Performance > Use Graphics Processor.

Lightroom has been doing the same thing to me. But it was doing it on the 2015 version as well as the latest Classic CC update. I thought it was crashing because I needed to upgrade, and when I did, the problem only got worse. For me, I'm not sure if reverting back to the previous version is going to fix the problem. How long before this bug is expected to be fixed?

LR 7.1 crashes on me every time I go into the Print module. I have backed out to lr 2015, loosing several months worth of work in the process. "Use Graphics Processor" is disabled.  I have submitted crash reports each time and I reported this in https://forums.adobe.com/thread/2404694 but see no sign of Adobe responding. This is very upsetting.

Are you on Mac or Windows? What does the crash log say in it? It may help if we could see your Lightroom System Info. Launch Lightroom, and select Help > System Info... and copy/paste the text in a reply.

One thing before the 7.1 System info -- in 7.1, OpenGL fails. I've tested it on my computer and it seems to pass all the tests I try, and lr 2015 also thinks it passes:

2-27-2018: Is anybody working on this trouble? I installed 7.2 last week and it has the same problem, i.e. LR crashes when I go to the print module. I would really appreciate some help.

Over the past two days LR CC Classic as crashed 8 times.

What is the OS/version? Have you submitted any crash logs? https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/submit-crash-reports.html What does the crash log or event viewer say in it?
