Lightroom Classic: Crop info from 5Dm3 has priority over the original CR2 file

Crop info from 5Dm3 has priority over the original CR2 file. Lightroom doesn't acknowledge all the pixels in the original raw files when importing or converting to DNG.

I had my 5Dm3 set to 4:5 crop ratio and could see guides on the preview screen after capturing the files. Upon importing the files into Lr, they changed to a 4:3 crop ratio, effectively truncating the side pixels. In order to gain access to the entire raw file, I had to open and convert the images using Canon's Digital Photo Professional utility.

Is it not normal for Adobe products to practice nondestructive importing/editing practices?

To recover the pixels from the in-camera crop on the Canon 5D Mark III you will need to use the Adobe DNG Recover Edge plug-in

A little snippet of extra information... when you upgrade your camera, this issue will no longer trouble you. New cameras added in ACR 4.2 or later let you select As Shot in the ratio pop-up instead of having to use the Recover Edges plug-in. Unfortunately yours was added in 4.1, so it was a little too early.
