Lightroom Classic: Interface is very, very slow on iMac Pro

Lightroom Classic CC (latest update atm) interface and other functions are very slow on iMac Pro. The actual edits and file renderings are quick, but interface is lagging, moving zoomed-in photo is very slow.

Example - scrolling thru folder list on left side is lagging. Scrolling preset list is lagging. Moving photo around with touchpad/touch-mouse is very lagging.

This is quite shocking to see on iMac Pro, which is supposed to be the super fast computer (and it is in any other respect, except Lightroom).

Tried with and without GPU acceleration. Didn't notice any difference.

Display is set to Default resolution.

I just upgraded from my 2009 Mac Pro to a new $3000 iMac with 64 GB of memory and a
Radeon Pro Vega 48 8 GB graphics card and have started using LR classic on it.  Lightroom Classic is UNUSABLE at this speed.   I can't believe it!  I've been a professional photographer for over 20 years and have been using Lightroom since version 1....  I've now had enough of this bullxxxx.   I'm going to switch to Capture One and I'm never coming back.    Thanks Adobe.

I am glad more people are starting to realize the issue. I am however puzzled as to how the rest of the "silent" Mac community is coping. The user experience in LR Classic on any modern Mac with hi-res display (like 5K iMac, LG Ultrafine, etc) is horrible. It lags in so many spots that it borders on ridiculous. 12 Gb or RAM usage just exporting some pics - Adobe needs to rethink its coding standards for LR, or face user exodus!

The short-term thinking at Adobe is puzzling but increasingly common in American business under bean counter control (see Boeing). Us old users may not have the bandwidth to switch but be clear your future user base is in danger and there are other options out there today for them.

Same problem here.  I have a new 5K iMac and have resorted to using Lightroom CC 2015.   LR Classic 8 is impossible to work with.   Seriously considering leaving Adobe after nearly 20 years using the products.    Currently training on Aurora products.
