Lightroom Classic: Crashes when I select Print on Windows 10

As far as I can tell Windows and Lightroom are up to date. After years of satisfactory use I find that every time I try to switch to the print module after about a two-second delay LR freezes and Windows displays the message   "Adobe Photoshop Lightroom has stopped working." - "A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."

I have two printers on my home network: an old OKI C5600 laser printer and an Epson SureColor P800. It has been suggested that printer drivers may be the problem but the problem persists with every combination of one or both printers on, set as default printers or not.

Something has clearly changed It's nearly two months since I last used LR and a change/update could have occurred any time in that period. I would be grateful for any advice or helpful suggestions.

Hi Eric,

Did you submit the crash report along with a correspondence email in the crash reporter dialog that comes up after Lr Classic crashes?

I have never had to submit a crash report before and this time when I needed it I couldn't find out how to do it on Windows. Can you assist me with this?

I've dug further: as far as I can tell Crash Reporter is not working and I can find no option to turn it on or off. What can I do next?

After a brief interchange of emails, several days later I have not heard any more from Satish T. I can now report that I have fixed the problem of Lightroom Classic crashing when I select print. First I uninstalled LR and then reinstalled it. The problem remained. The new installation had created a new and empty catalog so my next step was to copy the contents of my old catalog into the new. That fixed the LR crash problem when selecting PRINT. It is far to soon to tell whether or not I have lost anything in the process. My problem seems to have been due to a corrupted catalog. I don't know whether the uninstall/install was really necessary.

I am now chasing the problem of Crash Reporter failing to start. I suspect I know the cause and I will get back if I can fix the problem. It would be nice to have Adobe help me though.

Hi Eric,

We are glad that you have a workaround for the crash, but it would be great if you can share your catalog to help us debug the crash so that we can attempt a fix and avoid its recurrence in the future.

Please share the catalog and crash dumps(checking additional locations) as requested in the last email. I have resent it, so that it shows up at the top of your email stack.

Thanks
Satish
