Lightroom Classic 7.5: Crashing with High Sierra 10.13.6

I have an iMac with and external Thunderbolt hard drive containing my photographs and libraries. All was working fine until recently when Lightroom keeps crashing. https://helpx.adobe.com/uk/lightroom/kb/lightroom-and-mac-os-high-sierra.html implies that this problem has been fixed but it hasn't for me. Any ideas on how to go forward would be appreciated.

Please give your Mac the "once over"! Run the free Onyx (https://www.titanium-software.fr/en/o...), reboot. (In Onyx just run everything in the Automation tab). Run Disk Warrior if you can ($120), (https://www.alsoft.com), reboot. If you can’t do Disk Warrior, at least run First Aid from Disk Utility. Also just doing a "Safe Boot" can clear out caches (restart, hold down shift until you see "Safe Boot" on the screen, then reboot normally.

If that doesn’t work try launching Lightroom from your other (admin or test) account, with a new catalog, as a test. Does it run OK? If it does it may be a corrupted LR preference in your Username/Library folder. Check The Lightroom Queen site for instructions on how to reset your preferences (https://www.lightroomqueen.com).

Thank you Carlos for your considered reply. I updated my Disk Warrior to 5.1 but got a message saying that it can't rebuild the newer APFS file system. Anyhow, I tried Onyx and no crashes since. Fingers crossed!

Francis,

I searched the crash reports for your email address used when you logged into this forum and don't find any. Any chance you could get a screen grab of the crash dialog?

There are no crash reports. I get the following message:

Lightroom encountered an error when reading a catalog file and needs to quit. Lightroom will attempt to diagnose the problem the next time it launches.

I then get message asking if I want to back up the file or not. Once I choose, Lightroom automatically restarts and I get a message saying that the catalogue file is being checked and that this could take several minutes (which it doesn't).

Then the same thing happens again after few minutes!

Thank you for your interest. I am going to try the various suggestions
