Lightroom Classic CC 7.4 can not import a catalog from Lightroom CC 2015.12

Trying to move Lightroom catalog from one Mac to another (both high sierra) via external HDD.
- Backed up the catalog
- Copied .lrcat & .lrdata files
- Copied some of the photos I want on my new computer preserving directory structure

What happens
- Clicking on .lrcat file gets lightroom stuck
- Selecting the catalog when option-starting lr gets it stuck
- File -> Import from another catalog gives "The catalog does not appear to be a valid Lightroom catalog." error message.

Never had this problem with the earlier versions, what do I do?

Hi Anastasia,

I was not able to reproduce this on our end.

Could you try to open the catalog from 6.12 (2015.12) in Lightroom Classic 7.4? When you open the catalog from 6.12 (2015.12) in Lightroom Classic 7.4, it will ask you to upgrade. Please upgrade and close Lightroom Classic. Now open you original catalog and try to import the upgraded catalog.

If you face any issues in this, then could you share your catalog to keniya@adobe.com?
