My system has been running beautifully until I updated My Lightroom Classic CC 7.3 via Adobe Creative Cloud and now my Lightroom crashes constantly. The screen greys out and "Not Responding" displays in the title bar. I have to Ctrl+Alt+Del to exit

I don't sync. I don't upload to cloud at all.  Never have and I've never had issues with the program prior to the latest update

Lightroom (CC Classic, 7.3, on Windows 10 Pro) has been completely stable for me for as long as I can remember, but now it crashes 100% of the time when I do any of the following 3 things:
  • Removing an SD card (which has not been used for anything LR related)
  • Shutting off my monitor (which I tend to do when I am done with the computer)
  • Logging into my computer with Remote Desktop, which I do frequently
This is new behavior, since the 7.3 update.  Normal use and editing seems fine.  I have a few custom presets that work.  I have processed thousands of photos since the update without issue, but as soon as I do any of those things it freezes no matter what.  When I try to close the program, like the OP, I get a Not Responding message.

Please help.  I'm very worried about corrupting my catalog with it happening while it's doing things (exports, rendering previews, etc.).

Thank you

Do you by any chance have an external hard drive that automatically goes
to power saving/sleep mode and spins down after a while? Even when the hard drive has NOTHING to do with Lightroom (no photos on it, no caches, etc.; in my case it's simply my local backup drive), this caused Lightroom 7.3 to freeze in exactly the same way described here.

Currently, the best option to address the many problems with version 7.3 is to revert to 7.2, which is thankfully really easy with the Creative Cloud control software, described here for example:

I have a cloud service (pCloud) acting like a drive. It may become unavailable because of internet connection problems.

I have the same problem: Until 7.2 all worked fine, starting from 7.3 lightroom freezes after the import from an usb-device. I have to kill lightroom and start it again. Than it works find.
Sometime it transforms the .nef files into .dng, sometimes it freezes bevore.
The operating system is Windows 7, 8 GB RAM. It makes no difference, if the gpu is enabled or not. After the installation of 7.3.1 the same problem occurs.
