It has some terrible bugs in it. When changing presets the profile resets back to Adobe standard, even if profile isn't checked within that preset. It is making editing a real pain.
LR is also crashing. Please fix these bugs quick as I have tons of work to get done!
Is it possible to roll back a version? 7.3 can't be used in this state.

You can uninstall 7.3 via the App manager, then when you go to re-install click the down-arrow to the right and choose Other Versions, which will open a dialog where you will see Lightroom 7.2.

Is there any information about how to generate one's own "Look" profiles (creative profiles)?  Is it possible to incorporate existing LUTs into these looks?  Thanks!  Kirk

In the current version of ACR, you can add an external LUT to a custom, creative profile by Option-Clicking on the New Preset button in the preset tab.  Thanks!  Kirk

"Check the blog post for a link to the SDK"

Do you have a URL for that?  I can't find the link on these pages:

The translations of profiles to Swedish are wrong. In Adobe Raw profiles and Camera profiles Portrait is translated to "Stående" which means "standing" and Landscape is translated to "Liggande" which means "horisontal". It's easy to understand why this error was made...

Did you try signing out of Creative Cloud desktop and resigning in?
Also, end the process for Creative Cloud and then launch Creative Cloud desktop app to see if you are able to see the updates.

Thanks

Is there a list of the bugs fixed in 7.3?  Or were no publicly reported bugs fixed due to the focus on the new features?

Spot on, there were a few minor bits fixed, but nothing publicly reported (that I could see), as they had their hands full with the new features.

Seems that Adobe didn't fix any of the numerous bugs concerning really disturbing flaws with GPU, 4k monitors and lack of performance on hi-end PCs.

These bugs which are causing troubles and unconveniences for many months are:

https://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/white-balance-dropper-target-location-is-offs...

Is there at least a beta in the pipeline to test fixes concerning these topics?

Nice changes, but old pressets are after update mixed and not alphabetical sorted and some "non color" presets accidentally changing profile from  "Adobe Standard BW" to color "Adobe Standard"
(like grain, noise reduction, lens correction, dehaze, sharpening, vigneting, etc...)

My first impression with v. 7.3 is that it corrects the performance issues I had with the catastrophic v. 7.2 and improves from the previous versions too. Hope that the situation stays like this while I continue my use longer. Those who have made rollback from v. 7.2 to earlier versions (as I did) should at least try v. 7.3. Thanks for the team to fix things! Have not tried new features yet...

I noticed that 7.3 (like all versions since 7.0) ist extremely slow converting RAW to JPG. It appears relatively quickk converting all pictures, but then takes a long time to make those pics appear on screen. Is there any trick or toll to accel
erate the process?

just checked it and it doesn't help. conversion to jpg seems reasonably quick but RAW to DNG by comparison appears much faster. DNG to JPG, however slow. right now I have roughly 220 pics converted to JPG but so far only 11 of them visible in the newly created subdirectory.
It really can't be my PC with LR installed on a SSD Mk II card (1 TB), i7 3.6 GhZ processor, 32 GB Ram and fast WD Gold 6 TB HD plus an adequate Nvidia graphics card

Interesting new feature but, as usual, not thoroughly tested (or even not tested at all). Too many bugs in the preset management to be considered as serious. Not talking about the usual leftovers, duplicate files,...

Anyone who had right-clicked a preset folder in LR 7.3 could have seen that all user preset management commands like rename or delete were lost (although they are available in Camera RAW).

Anyone who had opened one of the new built-in presets could have seen that the sorting was plain wrong.

I'm wondering how quality insurance is organized  at Adobe.

When will 7.3.1 be released without those catastrophic bugs, reported here? I was forced to downgrade to 7.2. The only positive thing in 7.3 was a little bit better performance as in the previous 7.x versions

An to be honest, you should really not be happy to release such an aweful buggy version to the public....

Hi Victoria,

> I did an updated list of file locations here: Lightroom Classic File Locations

I have read this page and the information there doesn't correspond to what I see on my system  (after the 7.3 update) :

Third-Party Creative Profiles (those that I imported or re-imported myself) are stored at C:\Users\<Me>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CameraRaw\Settings . They are in XMP format.

My shared Camera Raw Settings are stored at C:\ProgramData\Adobe\CameraRaw\Settings\Adobe\Profiles and C:\ProgramData\Adobe\CameraRaw\Settings\Adobe\Presets.

At C:\Users\PatDev\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Lightroom\Develop Presets I can only find the old pre-7.3 third-party presets in .lrtemplate format prefixed with a ~ . Actually they can be removed because LR now disregard them once they have been converted to XMP and moved to C:\Users\<Me>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CameraRaw\Settings.

Maybe these differences come from the LR history on my system. I didn't enable "Store presets with this catalog".

> Maybe these differences come from the LR history on my system.

Or maybe it's another manifestation of the many bugs related to preset/profile management in version 7.3. I can't understand how this release could pass the QA dpt. stage. Wondering if there's still one such dpt. at Adobe.

It is really messy right now, and may change further yet.

> C:\ProgramData\Adobe\CameraRaw\Settings\Adobe\Profiles and C:\ProgramData\Adobe\CameraRaw\Settings\Adobe\Presets.

That's Adobe's own presets/profiles they install with the program.

> Third-Party Creative Profiles (those that I imported or re-imported myself) are stored at C:\Users\<Me>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CameraRaw\Settings

That's fine, they should work from there. The one listed on the file locations list is global (all users) whereas yours is the same path but for a single user.

> I can only find the old pre-7.3 third-party presets in .lrtemplate format prefixed with a ~

Yes, they can be removed, although probably worth keeping for now, just in case you roll back!!

Wow, it's now June 2018 and the import-problems (stalling/freezing/crashing) are worse than ever in 7.4: to the point I can't import a 16GB card in 8 hours. Adobe is trying EVERYTHING to lose customers? Nobody at Adobe adressed this issue in any way since 7.1 since almost 2 years ! :(

Maybe you are happy but we are not finding the bugs funny.

Lightroom 7.3 should never have been released.

It's a strange position I find myself in. v7.2 ran flawlessly on my MacPro, once we fixed the GPU issue early on in the release.

But v7.3 is awful - panel blackouts, ages to apply a common preset to a batch of images, and really unworkably slow processing panos that it's assembled itself without any problems or slowing.

Rolling back would mean rolling back Photoshop as well, as the matching ACR version is required for full Lr/Ps functionality. And as a Photoshop junkie I don't really want to revert to the previous version.

Andy, would you be willing to let me know what you have found with GPU and the likes....I have had panels going black on me for over a year and a half! can toggle thru pics with key stroke (arrow key) or Develop (d ) but when you mouse click panels go away!!! Frustrating as heck! What MacPro, OS, etc. ...many telling me to upgrade to High Sierra and many saying doing so is worse!!!! I am in L.A. area.... www.randyharmonphoto.com ....go to contact page and give me a call if you don't mind discussing this! I also have been on the phone with Adobe with no resolution! Thanks in advance!

Hi Randy

I'm in the UK!

If you head off to my Youtube channel https://www.youtube.com/user/TheAndy800 you'll see 2 or 3 videos I posted there on the original CPU/Open GL problem that caused some very major issues, and the original fix for the problem.

I have never experienced panel blackouts until installing 7.3.

I literally can't update my main machine beyond ElCap - but with 32Gb and a 4Gb nVidia I shouldn't have to.  The machine was plenty fast enough for 7.2

If you think Adobe are bad on the phone in the US, you want to try them in the UK - useless.

If you want to email me it's tuition@wildlifeinpixels.net

If you're just sending photos from LR to PS, you'd be fine with an older LR and newer ACR. The only time you'd run into problems is if it's the other way round (newer LR, older ACR) or if you're editing photos in the newer ACR using tools that didn't already exist in the older LR.

"Blue screen of death" means there is some system level issues (hardware failure, faulty drivers etc). Recommend to have your system checked.

That was the first thought, but lightroom 6 worked just fine and I was (and am) still able to use it. This happened right after I upgraded lightroom. This happens with no other programm and even after installing Windows 10 new (Clean install) the problem continues. I can create a new Catalogue, but as soon as I try importing picture or opening an old catalogue from lightroom 6 (after it ported it to the new version) the whole system blue screens. I deactivated the graphics card....no effect, and I checked for outdated drivers. Could you please help me?
