Lightroom CC2015 and Photoshop CC2017 hang with specific jpeg images

Specific jpeg image files crash Lightroom CC2015.7 and Photoshop CC2017.
The same files open fine with chrome or Windows 10 Photos.

The agent I spoke to suspected corrupt metadata, but even if this is the case the app should not hang or crash.  This is a bug in the jpeg reading code.

I remember posting a similar bug report many, many years ago with JPEGs that had been created by an early-model digital camera. Probably not a related bug, but I think I worked through it by resaving the files in another program. I would suggest that you (a) post an example, and (b) try to work around it.

Thanks for the suggestion.  I actually did something similar, I did File->Properties, Details tab, Remove Properties and Personal Information, Then removed a unset property, Windows recreated the EXIF data and removed the corrupted portions.
I was then able to import the files into Lightroom successfully.

Prasad,
Please provide us with a sample file. I have sent you a message off list.

Thanks,
Sunil

Thanks Sunil, I sent you the file, let me know if you need me to resend it in a zip package.  Also see my reply to the other comment on this thread.  I was able to workaround the issue, but still believe that the jpeg/metadata reading code has a bug that is getting exposed by my potentially corrupt file.
