An update for Lightroom was released today with new features for Creative Cloud users. In addition the release contains performance improvements, new camera support, new tethering support, additional lens profiles as well as bug fixes. More information is available at the Lightroom Journal.

If you are having trouble seeing the updates in your Creative Cloud App, hit the refresh [CMD/CTRL]+[Opt/Alt]+[ R ] and allow your App to pull in the latest updates.

Have you attempted to sign off your Creative Cloud App and sign back in again? That will sometimes clear things.

Yes, a few times and went into the Library structure and removed this file opm.db and then signed back in.  When that happened PS appeared with update but LR did not.  Tried it again, no luck?

Mike - can you go into the CC App preferences and verify the version number on your CC App?  I see another user farther down in the thread uninstalled his App and reinstalled from a fresh version and it cured his problem.

The first 5 minutes: WOW!

Smart Previews seems to use all CPU-Cores. And not only at 20% of their potential.
In develop-mode: I have virtual copies of 500 already edited pictures. They received another profile for b&w. In the preview not all are shown in b&w. One after another. If i edit the pictures very quick i'm running into the next picture which has noch b&w-preview. I mean the very small preview-pictures at the bottom. I'm used that it takes time from then on. But... Nope. No pause. Great, very great! But.. Only the first 5 minutes...

Map is all black for me - not even the pins are showing. I do see the small navigator map, though. And it is the same for all map styles.

Let's try going to Preferences>Performance and change the GPU setting. If it is on, turn it off. If it is off, turn it on.

Just did - no change. My laptop has both Intel HD4000 and GeForce 620M, and I'm just upgrading the GeForce driver now. Hope that helps..

Rikk, are there any batch export performance improvements in 6.8?  The release notes only seem to mention performance improvements in image editing responsiveness.

Many improvements were included but not specifically mentioned in the release notes. Whether your particular circumstance is improved or not will probably need to be tested by you.  I recommend trying it and letting us know if you still have issues.

Finished editing my 12/10 wedding (771 photos) with 6.8 and ran the 6.8 export. Unfortunately, the performance of the 6.8 export has not improved at all.  It took 3Hrs.&5Min. to complete and would have taken half the time compared to 6.3 given my guesstimate.   Never-the-less, the Develop module has improved a lot compared to 6.3 and especially improved compared to 6.7.  And 6.8 starts much faster (starts are over 2 minutes for 6.7 and it would get  "not responding" messages compared to 40 seconds for 6.8 with no "not responding" messages) and Develop tools are more responsive.  So given the performance of the Develop module and starting much faster, I'll stick with 6.8 and hope that the export process in the next release will be faster.

regarding the export. - if you restart lightroom and then do the export then it will be much faster than if you run the export after working with lightroom for few minutes - see my open thread on the subject.

Thanks Assaf for your comment.  However, I always do an integrity-check/back-up/optimize catalog/shutdown LR process, then back-up all my work to two external hard drives. Then I restart LR and immediately start 3 simultaneous batch exports processes, in this case 257 photos each process, directing the output to 3 different file folders for each process.  And looking at task manager & the resource monitor during this LR 6.8 771 file export,  I did notice that the first say 1/3 of the total batch gets much more CPU than the last 2/3 does.  And noticed over the total batch, CPU runs about 80% to 95% at the beginning and then slows over time to about 25% to 35% to the end.  By the way, file writes to my internal SSD was not a problem (I/O ran about 2% to 5% and at most 10%).  Also, I did notice this same behavior for other large exports I did in the past with LR 6.7.  But, I can't say this behavior happened with LR 6.3 since I was ok with its export performance.  

All-in-all, I guess I can try smaller batches and see if this will speed up the over all LR 6.8 export time,  but what a pain this would be.

Update not installing of me either. 'Updates' is greyed out in the LR help menu. Have d/l the update from the direct download site and it will not install - I get the following message


I have tried reinstalling LR starting with LR 6.0 base version but now cannot install any updates, not even 6.7 , the same message appears; so now I am stuck with 6.0. The Creative Cloud app thinks I have LR CC and says it's up to date! Tried signing out and back in - no joy. I have tried using CC Cleaner tool, reinstalling CC app and installing on a new Admin account - no joy with either.
This is not good enough Adobe, this is a shambles.

For the record I am using late 2012 iMac running Sierra and (until 4 hours ago) LR 6.7 standalone. Now I am stuck with 6.0. Not happy!

For God's sake Adobe, FIX IT!

Still having problems with LR 2015.8 in W10 + NVIDIA 950M + 376.19 driver. 

I barely can open LR then LR not responding and finally system crashes. 

Very dissapointed with this update.

First. Reset your preferences file.  Close Lightroom. Hold down [Alt]+[Shift] and relaunch Lightroom. Overwrite the preferences when prompted. 

If that doesn't cure your issue, perform an uninstall/reinstall of Lightroom CC2015.8 from the CC App. 

Let us know how those two options work for you.

After working for few hours with this release. I can confidently say that the performance issues have NOT been resolved and I still need to restart lightroom every 5-10 minutes to get back to have a responsive experience otherwise it is painfully slow.

you may have improve something as it may take longer now before the performance drop kicks in.

keep working on it please as it has been like that that for more than a year, what a flop...

Hi all,

Yesterday I tried to update Lr 2015.7 to 2015.8, however, this update is not shown in the Creative Cloud desktop application (this app is up to date). How this could be? Both Photoshop and ACR have been updated correctly, but not Lr. The CC desktop app thinks version 2015.7 is up to date. Has the update been removed temporarily? Or maybe not released yet for Spanish systems?

I have a CC Photography plan running on macOS Sierra 10.12.2.

Moreover, I have realized that version 2015.8 is not announced in the Lr "What's new" section: www.adobe.com/products/photoshop-lightroom/features.html

Refresh your App by opening the Creative Cloud App and hitting [CMD]+[Opt]+ [ R ] and give it a couple of minutes to refresh. Does it appear now?

I have uninstalled de program and reinstall it. Surprisingly, 2015.0 was installed and according to the CC desktop up, it was up to date... so I ended up downloading the update file and install it manually.

Does it mean that the CC app will never notify me any Lr update?

This update is a joke. Really. I'am a 0-day LR lover, but those bugs added in every update in the last months without solving the problems we have, is just demotivating.

- X key does not work any more -> Known issue since 6 days, no answer WHAT SO EVER !!
- Scrambled Graphics in Dev mod on MacPro last generation -> No answer at all
- Preview thumbnail in Dev mode does not always reflect the presset your are flying over -> Known issue since 2 years -> No answer
- Preview thumbnail in Dev mode does not always update to current picture -> Known issue since 2 years -> No answer.

Rick, are you really carry at the end ?

The point is that if it works for some other MacOS X users but not for you, the problem may not be in Lightroom but in some key mapping you did in the OS. Worth checking out at least.

No it has been acknowledge by adobe. It does not work for French sierra users (parts of at least)

Agree with Regis, this update is a disaster. I posted earlier in this discussion that I was unable to install the 6.8 update - it failed no matter what I tried. Now I consider myself fortunate that I was unable to install it, given the raft of new problems that have arisen.
At least Adobe have finally acknowledged that there is a problem with the Install process, even though these issues have been around ever since LR6.0 was first released.

I have decided to avoid 6.8 like the plague. Meantime I suggest that Adobe returns to its former (and sensible) practice of releasing Beta or Release Candidate versions so that a new version can be tested by users and problems found and fixed before officially releasing a new version. To charge money for poor quality software like version 6 has proved to be is downright dishonest.

This update works fine for me (Win10) but is faster with the older NVidia 368 driver than the latest 375 driver. Even checking use graphics card now works for me on a 2560x1440 monitor with auto preview size.

The update has been a disaster for me too.  When I perform an action I lose the Toolbars and nothing will bring them back.  Also, Lightroom is not backing up my files.  What should I do?

Toolbars? Can you elaborate on which tool bars are 'lost' and describe how it happens and what it looks like?

When you say Lightroom is not backing up your files... Lightroom has never backed up files (e.g. originals, JPEGS, Tiffs). Or are you speaking of the Catalog not backing up? Can you give me more information here as well?

Sure sorry for the confusion.  It is not the Toolbars.  It's the panels.  No matter where I click whether it's to do an edit or any action for that matter the panels disappear.  Clicking the arrows on the panels does not bring them back.  Yes, I should have said the Catalog.  Actually it is backing up but with the annoying message "Your catalog is larger than 4GB. Please use a 3rd party utility such as 7-zip or StuffitExpander to extract your catalog backup."  I have no idea what to do about that.  Attaching a ScreenShot if that helps.  Thank you.

That backup message is a known and only cosmetic bug. Your backup is fine. Just click the 'Do not show again' checkbox.

I am having the same problem as Martin, no matter what I do with uninstall and reinstall, running CC cleaner i have now gone from running 6.6 to 6.0 rather than 6.8 and the 6.8 patch install will not run as it says that the CC app manager is corrupt and needs to be reinstalled and uninstalling it and installing the new version 3.9.5.353. Running the new application tells me the version is up to date and the cycle/circle continues. Is there a way to by-pass the app manager and just install the patch to 6.0 to upgrade it. Trying to use other patches has the same problem so I cant even get back to 6.6.

Have you updated the CC Desktop program lately? It controls the updates to the LR programs and has frequent bug updates.

I have updated the CC app Manager a number of times. I am using the non CC version of LR so I have no experience with the CC desktop program I find it is different to the ap manager

Hi Rikk, I had a long chat with customer care - downloaded AdobeLimitedAccessRepairTool.exe and then downloaded LRCC and a patch zip file. yeh took me some time but the Agent was good with me and finally it was updated. and it runs good now.
