I am not having this problem.  I have the latest version of Catalina and Lightroom CC.  Although I have a Canon, the images load from the card with no problem.

I  have not tried to import yet.  However, I cannot open my pictures in Lightroom, photoshop or Indesign.  Get the message Folder cannot be opened.  My pictures are on an external drive.

This looks like classic data corruption - most likely during the transfer process.  I would recommend starting with checking the components involved.
  • Card Reader
  • Cable
  • Port
  • Memory Card
If all of those check out, then start looking at RAM and Harddisk for a failing component.

Do you still have the memory card from which these images originated?  If you try putting them on your hard drive or your NAS and importing them again, do they come in cleanly?

Don’t think so. With the same macBook Pro, the same card (no cable needed) I managed to import the same pics through Lightroom CC in a webbrowser (Safari). I really have the feeling it’s a common bug.
