Lightroom CC Mobile (iOS): RAW (RAF) importing as B&W

  • Lightroom CC subscription
  • iPad Pro 12.9" 2017 (Gen 2)
  • iOS 11.2
  • Lightroom CC Mobile
  • Lightning to SD Card (USB 3)
  • Fuji X-T2 (uncompressed RAF)

I have shot a bunch of photos on my XT2, RAW/RAF Only. When I plug the SD Card into my iPad Pro, I see the images in color as they import to Photos app. After importing to Photos, I remove the SD Card and check the photos again, and they are still in color. I then open Lightroom CC Mobile, and click "Add photos" and select camera roll. I choose RAW only, and see all of my images, still in color. After selecting the ones I want, I click "add photos" and wait for import to finish.

As I watch the import, the images are loading into Lightroom CC Mobile as B&W. I wait for import to finish, and check images again. Indeed they are B&W after import with no discernible way to change them back to color. The images are in color in the camera, on the card, and in the Photos app, but Lightroom insists on B&W only.

I need a solution urgently for this as I am going on a month long photo trek in a few days and need this setup to work for importing/backup/sharing on the road.

Please help!

UPDATE: It seems that actually the color is there, but the file doesnt show it. As soon as I make any edit of any kind in Lightroom CC Mobile, it immediately restores color to the file. But, because Lightroom CC Mobile has no "mass-edit" or "group-edit", I have to manually edit every single file simply to see the color. Major annoyance.

Please help to fix this ASAP or advise what is causing it.

Hi Matt. Thanks for reporting. Did I get it right that you imported the RAF-files while your device was offline? When you are then online again with your device and make an edit , Lr Mobile will download the corresponding camera profile so that your photo shifts to colored. What you can do to  force create the colored thumb+previews is to trigger "Clear Cache" while your device is connected to the network. With that thumbnails +previews will be re-downloaded.
We will fix your issue.

Thanks again.

Hi Guido. Yes I do the import from SDCard to Photos and then Photos to LRCC Mobile all offline so that my device doesn’t try syncing to iCloud during the temporary storage in Photos.

Thanks for your hotfix idea, and it DID work when purging cache.

The downside to this is that I need to wait for all the images to finish uploading to CC then purge cache then download images again. Would be great if the app had camera profiles built in directly, or would auto update when connected online without purging cache.
