Lightroom CC Mobile - Crop tool + Flag/Rating accessibility

1. To crop an image in the previous version of Lightroom Mobile I had to tap the Crop tool once and then select the aspect ratio; maybe tap the aspect ratio again to change the orientation of the crop from landscape to portrait.

Now, in order to Crop an image in the new Lightroom CC Mobile version I have to tap the Crop tool, then tap the Aspect Ratio pop-up, and then select the ratio.

Because cropping and rating/picking images is part of my initial workflow, this will now take quite some extra time while working through thousands of images.

2. The Flag/Rating details display icons have been removed from the main editing screen and require me to flip (tap the little three buttons) in order to see them, which is extremely inconvenient. There is plenty of screen real estate to keep those two little icons in place exactly the way it was before - which was a perfect implementation.

When working through the first selection process you need to have the Flag/Rating status visible at all times, including Filmstrip, Crop, Preset, and Adjust mode.

I would strongly suggest to Adobe to please reverse these "improvements" ... the previous layout worked so much better (who needs Rotate, or two Flip modes in the base Crop menu. I have to admit, though, that the Straighten function works nice and makes sense in this menu as well).

It was suggested that you post two separate "Idea" topics, one for each of your items, so people can comment and rate them individually.

Can I somehow edit the Idea? Or can you remove it and I split it up into two, if that's preferable?

Hey Axel

I'm I dumb or have they also removed the ability to change the ratios switching? Example, you use to be able to press and hold a ratio and it was change from 4x3 to 3x4. I have not been able to do this!

Hi Scott, you are absolutely correct. They introduced this "bug" with the Lightroom CC Mobile update ... and it has not been fixed with the iOS update on 5/13.

Right now you cannot switch orientation in your crops. You can only do a Free Transform and change the aspect ratio; when you then return to 4x5 the orientation stays the same. For one or two pictures that's a interim work-around, but not when you have you go through hundreds or thousands of images.

Adobe still owes us an answer on when they will fix this. I have a separate Problem post exactly on this.

Wow! Thanks Axel. I have been going crazy on this one, Every search I have done on the Internet has given me nothing, This is a big deal to mean. Sounds like we use mobile much the same way. I dump my photos to the computer and walk away, I think do a ton on my IPad to sort, rate, and crop. It is such a integral part of my work flow that I now feel frustrated by this bug. But I will admit I still love this app!

Yep - almost the same workflow indeed. After I have dumped the files on the computer I usually do a quick consistent noise reduction per ISO and some general development for all. Then I synchronize with the mobile iPad platform and do all selection, rating, cropping on the iPad. The final work on the computer is then pretty quick and straight forward. Much better than sitting in front of the computer for hours ... iPad on the patio is so much nicer ;-)

I reported that bug to the Adobe telephone hotline the day the new version came out. So far no fixes .... IMO it's taking way too long.
