Lightroom CC: Locate my file originals

I recently decided to migrate over my Apple Photos library to Lightroom CC, just to try it out (on a free trial). I figured -- it can't hurt to try, it should be easy to migrate back, right? My understanding was that Lightroom CC stored all of the files in an intuitive way, so it would be easy to import them back.

Not so! Even though I've updated my Lightroom CC settings to store my files locally, it seems like only ~3000 of ~17,000 photos are being saved. This shouldn't be a disk space issue, as I had previously had all of my Apple Photos stored locally on my hard drive (as well as on the cloud). In any case, I am finding it impossible to migrate back over to Photos, and I'm frustrated that I may have to start paying for a service I don't want just so that I can retain access to my photos. Please help! My trial expires in just a couple of days...

Apple photos stores all of you images in a unique "Apple" way. I actually export / import my selected photos from Apple Photos to LR Classic each month. This is because I use LR as my main catalog / editing SW and will not need all my iPhone / Apple photos put in there. So I effectively have both LR and Apple photos.
I can detail the whole process if this felt to be helpful to you.
I do prefer LR Classic, I use LR CC on my Surface Pro, but my main catalog / masters are all on my iMac using LR Classic (Better features than the CC at present)

So I use all three really and if you are careful / diligent they all stay well aligned with each other.
1) Apple photos via the iCloud to synch all my iPhone/iPad Photos
2) LR Classic to store all my main images with keywords and everything
3) LR CC with synced collections to LR Classic for on the go editing and adjustments
