Lightroom Classic: Fails to import images later than 2020-01-22 from iPhone 11 Pro in Windows10 Home

Here at home we are using Lightroom Classic to organize out photos. And we have just noticed that we can't import anything after 22:nd of january 2020.

We start the import from the phone, having unlocked the phone and trusted the computer first, and then it says it begins to import. But nothing is imported. When one aborts it says that the images can't be read or the destination drive isn't accessible.

I have tried to both send the images to the NAS as we usually do but also to dump the to a local HDD.

Any suggestions to what the issue might be?

I am not sure to which Lightroom product and version you are speaking. You've tagged the post as Lightroom Classic but called out Lightroom CC in your text. These are two different products (well CC doesn't exist as a name anymore) so if you could go to Help>System Info... and get your installed version number and post it back here, we can better help.

  • When you attempt to import do you get an import dialog?
  • Do you see the photos in the grid of the import dialog? 
  • Are any of the photos present? 
  • Are they grayed-out?
  • On the Right-side in the File Handling Panel do you have Do Not Reimport Suspected Duplicates checked or unchecked?

I have the same phone and same OS on my personal system and haven't ever seen an issue like this. 

Did you ever operate Lightroom mobile on this phone and auto import from your camera roll to Classic via sync?

  • I get the import dialog.
  • I see the photos in the grid. It removes the duplicates (well did on the old computer on the new computer where I have had to import the images it wont recognize them as duplicates any longer). 
  • It can import all photos/movies up until 22:nd of january
  • It can not import anything after that date and all those end up in an error list when aborting the import. 
  • If I import images prior to the 22:nd they are added (as duplicates even though the dont import duplicates is ticked).
Lightroom mobile have never been activated on my fiancees phone. Have not autoimported thought sync. 9K images on the missus phone at the moment and counting. She refuse to remove any.

The dialog prior to selecting source or after with the error messages? I have not the phone we tried to import from at hand at the moment (she is working).

We have found a workaround to the issue that seems to be working. 
  1. Make sure you sync everything to iCloud
  2. Download images from iCloud to local computer
  3. Import from drive location
Import is not finished though so might be celebrating to soon...

Though I must say that Lightroom classic is surprisingly unresponsive during image import.

It worked to export the images from iCloud and then import.
