Lightroom CC - Excruciatingly slow import/convert process.

Is there any way to configure Lightroom CC switch to the old way of importing and converting files to DNG format? I suspect no... if this is the case, I hope that an update in the near future addresses this issue. The new two-step method is excruciatingly slow!

i agree. During my first import since CC i assumed i made a preference change inadvertently when LRCC started a second slow process for 1 import. Hoping a change is forthcoming.

Yesterday I had imported 278 Full RAW CR2 files (created with a Canon EOS 6D) and 278 corresponding JPEG's (1920x1280) onto my SSD. A total of 7211 MB.

My import settings where:

File Handling
Build Previews: 1:1
Build Smart Previews: Yes
Don't Import Suspected Duplicates: Yes
Make a Second Copy To: Yes

File Renaming
Rename Files: Yes

Apply During Import
Development Settings: Yes, Saved setting for only Enable Profile Corrections and Remove Chromatic Aberration
Metadata: Copyright information only
Keywords: three keywords

Into Subfolder: Yes
Organize: Into one folder

The copy process, from my SD card (via the Express Card adapter) to my SSD took only 8 minutes and 5 seconds.
The processes for Converting to DNG, Creating Start Previews and Creating 1:1 Previews all ended at the same moment and took 1 hour, 24 minutes and 28 seconds.
During the whole import process, No other applications where running and the LR CC option Use Graphics Processor was disabled.

A total of 1 hour, 32 minutes and 33 seconds. That is an average of 20 seconds per photo.

As of 05-14-15, LR 6 CC is still excruciatingly slow on import AND export, with or without the Preferences > Processor > Use Graphics Processor box being checked.

I do not make a second copy on import, I do not do 1:1 previews, etc. Suffice it to say that what was supposed to be faster than the old way is now MUCH slower!

+2, both my wife's and my copies of LRcc have the problem. Additionally, the display of images in the grid stay as the preview (in my case, B&W) and don't change to color until selected and then wait about 5 seconds each.

In the last week, the LR CC import has gotten slower and slower. I assumed it was my laptop, but my desktop is doing the same now. I also don't do 1:1 previews or make second copy on import.

I am importing a small 2,200 image library from Aperture. All CR2 files most with previews. I started this 14 hours ago and it is only 52% done. It is proceeding at a rate of about one image per minute. I had done three test imports on 20 to 50 image libraries first and they were 'tolerably slow' but this is ridiculous. I am using all the same settings and the Aperture library was prepared in the same way too. There seem to be periods of inactivity between each image being added to the catalog. The processors are about 12.5% committed to LR and of the 20GB RAM there is 7GB free.

It is too complicated to try and stop this now and restart because this library contains images spread over almost every day of a three year period. Any ideas on what might be wrong and steps I can take to speed this awful process up???
