Lightroom Classic: Don't Import Suspected Duplicates

I teach Lightroom and recently I was demonstrating the Don't Import Suspected Duplicates checkbox in the Import interface. It didn't work. I uncheck it and the images were still greyed out and they should have been ready for Import. I checked my computer version of Lightroom and the computer in our MacLab. The same issue. We are using 8.4.1 version on Mojave. Is this a bug?

Greyed out would suggest they're already imported at that location. Can you show us a screenshot?

Please help me with the screenshot, and also mention which camera you are using along with the model number of the camera

I think I figured it out, at least for my personal computer. The folder with files from the student was on a thumb drive and all the other folders would be available when Don't Import Suspected Duplicates was checked. It was only the one folder that it didn't work on. I copied the folder to the desktop and it worked with the folder that was not responding. I think it is possible that the folder on the thumb drive was the issue. It was probably loaded in correctly or not ejected correctly. I will be at school tonight and check those computers.
