Lightroom CC: Can't view other photos in Detail view after delete

When I'm in Detail view and delete a photo (right click, delete photo), I can no longer move to other photos with the right/left arrow keys. I have to switch to Grid view and switch back to get it working again. It sometimes does work properly, but usually, it behaves as described.

Windows 10, Lightroom CC, latest versions

If the photo you right-click>delete is the selected photo, Lightroom Desktop should lose focus as no photo is now selected.

If the photo you right-click>delete is not the selected photo, you should still see the photo that is selected.

Is that what you are seeing?

If I'm cycling through photos in Detail view, I'm not selecting any of them; I'm just advancing and deleting. After deleting, it shows the next photo as expected. It should then allow me to continue advancing. This was never an issue with LR Classic.

If a photo appears in Detail view, it is selected.

When you are right-clicking are you right clicking on the Detail full screen image or the image on in the filmstrip?

I see. But then the next photo that appears should become selected. I am not using the filmstrip; I actually have that turned off entirely. I am right-clicking the full image. As soon as it deletes, the next image appears correctly, but then I am frozen on that image with no way to advance. I have to leave Detail view to get it to "reset".

Ok-that is good information. I've now turned off my film strip but am still not able duplicate what you are seeing.

My steps:

Select Album
D for Detail view
Right-arrow through images
Stop on one image, right-click-delete-confirm
Continue Right-arrow through images
Repeat delete on another image.

I continue to have responsive arrows. I've tested to 20 deletes.

Do you see this every time, most of the time, less than half the time, or rarely?

Odd, I see it happening almost every time. Occasionally it works as expected, but over 95% of the time, it fails. I suppose I can try reinstalling the app?

Try this first:

A Preference File will survive a Lightroom uninstall/reinstall. Sometimes weird behavior is corrected/cured by resetting the preferences.

Reset Procedure:

1. Close Lightroom.
2. Hold down [Alt/Opt]+[Shift] while restarting Lightroom.
3. Overwrite the Preferences when prompted by the dialog.
4. Close Lightroom.
5. Restart Lightroom.

Does the behavior continue after resetting the preferences?

Hey, that seems to have fixed it! At least, it is working at the moment. I'll report back if it acts up again. Thank you so much for the help!
