Lightroom CC 2015.7: No longer shows import dialog when a memory card is detected after upgrading to Sierra

After upgrading to MacOS Sierra, Lightroom CC 2015.7 no longer shows import dialog when a memory card is inserted in my MacBook Pro.  I have verified that "Show import dialog when a memory card is detected" is checked in Preferences/General/Import Options in Lightroom.  This used to work for me under El Capitan.

This kind of drama is one reason I have hesitated to instal Sierra.

That said you might want to delete Lightroom from Creative Cloud and re-install it.  Could be something to do with the OS upgrade that has messed up something.

To remove Lightroom first open the Creative Cloud panel from the top of the screen and then move your cursor to the Lightroom App.  When the gear indicator appears, click it and select Uninstall.

When the uninstall process has completed I would recommend that you reboot your Mac and then re-install Lightroom from Creative Cloud.  You probably could simply re-install without rebooting but that's up to you.

Regular reboots do a lot towards cleaning up memory which can get a little disorganised if you are opening and closing a lot of Apps over a number of days.

Plug in a memory card.  Open the Image Capture program that comes with the Mac OS.  Click on the card reader in the upper left.  Expand the arrow that appears at the lower left.  Set the value of the field to Lightroom.

Rikk Flohr, I'm assuming that you are suggesting this in order to force Lightroom to launch if it is not already running?

If I insert any card, containing images, into my Mac I expect that card to be visible in the Lightroom source window when importing images irrespective of if the card has been flagged to open Lightroom.  Sometimes I don't what any Application to open up when a card, containing images, is inserted.  That's my choice given that I use more than one image storage program (Lightroom or perhaps Photos) depending on the subject matter.

I was more concerned that another application was assuming control of the SD card and preventing the desired interaction.  I see Sunil has commented and will pick up the discussion with his investigation.

We are investigating this issue.
Looks like even the apps like Photos is affected.

Thanks,

In Sierra, there is a change in behavior.
We are coming up with a fix for the same.

Thanks,

I have had this problem as well - both with LR 2015 (see above) and Lightroom Classic launch. However, following the update to Lightroom Classic 7.1 (December 12, 2017) the import dialogue now opens when the SD card is inserted fMacBook Pro with High Sierra.
