Lightroom camera profile for Tamron 15-30mm nikon mount is useless for night photography

The camera Lightroom profile for the new Tamron 15-30mm Nikon mount is completely off. It creates bright spots on the bottom left and right corners. It also creates this wierd checkerboard effect on top of the image. It also doesn't fix the distortion. Basically it is useless. These problems are very noticeable for night/dark photos. When I transfer the photo from LR to PS the weird grid mesh pattern shows up. The bright spots show up. If I don't choose the profile before transfering none of these problems appear. I've included a picture of what happens.

Hi Ben,

We are not seeing this pattern in the calibration images we have in house. Would you be willing to post a sample on Dropbox or similar sharing site for me to investigate?

The rings and checkerboard pattern looks like moiré between the very-fine high-ISO and the warping that occurs with the distortion correction.

The image appears very oversharpened since the stars are out-of-focus. Perhaps too much Detail / Sharpening / Detail has been used--probably none should have been, and there likely should have been some luminance NR added, as well. Whether changing the Detail adjustments would help depends on whether the lens distortion corrections happen before or after the Detail section adjustments. If before then nothing can be done.

Try minimizing the sharpening and use a medium amount of NR and see if the anomalies go away.

The nebulous nature of the subject makes it difficult to tell if the vignette-correction or distortion correction is working or not.

A low-ISO shot of a subject with straight lines and otherwise flat illumination would help determine if the lens corrections are the problem or the image is.
