Lightroom Classic CC - Video Cache is literally exploding

I've encountered a huge issue with the Lightroom cache today. I was sorting through my personal movie library on a network drive when my Mac freaked out about having no disk space left. When I looked into what was filling up my previously half empty drive, I saw that the Lightroom Video Cache took up 160GB (!!!). I didn't even open Lightroom today (!!!)

As if that wasn't enough, most of the original Files aren't even as big as the corresponding cache files!
Why is Lightroom doing that?! I now terminated every Adobe service in the background out of fear of it destroying my SSD! This ist absolutely unacceptable! Lightroom is on the Brink of being unusable with this issue!

looks like the cached files are movies, and the size of the movie files seems reasonable (4-12 GBytes).  Did you import those video files into LR?

Hi Nils,

You can set the size of Video Cache Lightroom uses in Preferences->Performance tab. That way you can restrict Lr video cache disk usage to a max value. It should help in this case.

the size of the video cache was restricted to 3GB. Somehow LR ignored that limit. And as I said, LR wasn't even running...

Thanks, Nils for reporting. We are aware of this particular issue with the Video Cache and are actively investigating a fix for the same. Meanwhile, would request you to please clean up the cache files manually for now.

I know that is cumbersome - and appreciate your patience while we work on a permanent solution to this problem. There is no need to terminate all Adobe services.
