Lightroom: Book module captions with italics get lost

I have entered Caption metadata to my images and use that text in my Lightroom-based book. In the book format, the caption needs to be formatted, in some cases with mixed formats - one word may need to be bold, another italics, etc.

It seems I am able to do this - highlight a word and make it italic - but sometimes it stays, other times I scroll back through the book and my italics are gone. Some pages it sticks, some it doesn't.

There are many other bugs in handling text in the Book Module, but I've found workarounds for those. This one is unpredictable, and if I go to print with inconsistent formatting I'm going to be in deep doo doo.

Current workaround: it seems that if I convert it from "Caption" to "Custom text" then it reliably retains the formatting...so far. It's frustrating, since maintaining that dynamic link to the metadata was one of the reasons of choosing Lightroom over InDesign for this project.
