Lightroom activity monitor only appears momentarily when clicked

Since upgrading to Lightroom CC 2015.8 (Mac OS 10.11.6), clicking on the identity plate area of the Lightroom window only shows the activity monitor menu for a fraction of a second (when the mouse is released) and then it immediately disappears.

This makes in impossible to check the status of running activities.

Most menus appear on mouse-down (when clicked) instead of when released, and I believe this was the previous behavior.

Using what kind of pointing device? Trackpad? Magic Mouse? Wacom tablet?

All of the above. Apple Magic trackpad, Apple magic mouse, Wacom tablet all the same. Seems to happen with any pointing device.

I'm sorry what does the Apple Mac OS X Activity Monitor have to do with LR. I'm running a Windows PC but I could not find any links in a Google search for "Bring up OS X Activity monitor from the Lightroom identity plate".
If your asking about the Adobe Lightroom activity monitor that is only displayed when LR is busy doing something like Exporting and importing images and with some other LR activities. Like converting images to DNG.
As soon as LR is finished that activity monitor closes.

Nope. If you click on your identity plate, the activity window drops down and stays down as long as the cursor is over that plate. Even if Lightroom is idle. And nobody is talking about the Apple MacOS X Activity Monitor app.

Or, as in my case, it doesn't, which is the problem I am experiencing.

Additionally, if Lightroom is doing multiple tasks, the Lightroom activity monitor that automatically appears shows multiple progress bars, and clicking on them causes the more detailed activity window to drop down to show you the individual status of each task. But for me, the issue is that the drop-down immediately disappears, so I don't have time to see the detailed status.

Does anyone know of a keyboard shortcut that I can try in lieu of clicking on the activity monitor area?

Also, I have discovered that if I click quickly on the activity drop-down while it is momentarily visible, I can pause/unpause the three default activities, and sometimes it will then stick open like it is supposed to. Hmmmm.

I discovered the culprit: The Ink preference panel. When Ink is active it allows the system to do handwriting recognition using a pen and tablet (in my case, a Wacom). When it is enabled, it seems to mess with any menus that work on mouse-up (Notably this one, and the prefs menu in Griffin PowerMate software. Turning Ink off fixes this bug for me.
