At least, I will no longer complain about the bugs introduced with version 7.3 : I cannot even use the product. What a mess !

A quick question for you Patrick,

Do you have a Network Printer set as Windows Default that is not on or unavailable?

Hi Rikk,

> Do you have a Network Printer set as Windows Default that is not on or unavailable?

The answer is yes but I fixed the problem by uninstalling/re-installing LR. Since the problem was not actually diagnosed, I guess it can re-appear one of these days.
What is bothering me is that LR is slowly (understatement) shifting to the "not reliable" category. Many problems are not clearly identified and the answer is too often "Reset your Preferences", re-install LR, etc. If I cannot be assured that when I plan to spend one or two hours working on my photos, I will not spend this time fixing problems, I could be tempted to use another tool, although I don't like the idea. During the last weeks I have spent more time chasing and reporting bugs and looking for possible fixes (when possible) than working on my images. I'm not sure that this is something I will accept on the long run.
As already discussed elsewhere, it is now high time that Adobe consider doing something about their QA dpt. Things cannot continue this way.

I am glad the reinstallation cured your current issue. If it arrises again, please double check the Default Printer status and report it back here. I will pass on your QA concerns.

Thanks for your concern, Patrick.

Something must have changed on your system. Try run check disk utility on the disk where Lightroom is installed.

Hi Simon,
Between the moment when LR started normally for the last time and the moment it started to immediately crash upon startup, nothing had changed on my system. Windows has been updated recently but this didn't affect LR at that time. The only thing I can remember having done before closing LR the last time it started correctly is to have changed the language. I first thought that the Preferences files had been corrupted but this was not the case and restoring my preferences  from a recent backup didn't help.

There's no problem with the disk where Lightroom is installed (0 bad sectors, plenty of disk space available). No problem either with the disk where my catalogs reside.

And LR is by far not the only software that I'm using on this system. None of the applications I'm using daily has exhibited any problem, with exception of Firefox Quantum which is a bug concentrate since the very beginning and crashes on me regularly. But this is a well-known fact.

I have a similar problem. haven't really checked if that happens if and when Printer is not "on". However, it happens quite regularly. f.e. when I leave the pc unattended for some time
