Using standalone LR6, updated graphics card driver, program now constantly freezing up/crashing. Can't even disable graphics card in preferences before freezing up/crashing!

Using Win 7 Home Premium with AMD Radeon HD 5000 series GPU running software version 15.20.1062.1003-150728a1-187447C.

LightRoom is currently unuseable! Will be shooting an even within a week and no way to post process! Solutions please?!?

Thanks for your reply Tom. I am currently downloading the older driver from the AMD site.

While the suggestion of rolling back the driver on the my video card does not solve the underlying problem (getting the video card to work with LR6), I should at least be able to use the software in the meanwhile without taking advantage of my video card.

Hoping this issue is soon resolved so I can begin making best use of this newly added feature!

There is a new beta AMD driver released: 15.8 Beta. See

Can you please try it and report if it fixes the problem with hanging or crashes issues when the GPU acceleration is turned on?

(Remember to enable the GPU acceleration in the Lightroom user prefs, first.)

Listed in the AMD Beta driver release notes:

Resolved Issues:
[424009] Adobe® Lightroom may crash if GPU rendering is enabled

Simon, I've just installed the 15.8 beta, and can confirm that the freezing and crashing has stopped, for me at least. It was freezing when I clicked on any earlier collection, and while it was exporting a batch of pics the currently displayed pic would go blank. The export completed OK, but the glitch was annoying, and a sign that something was amiss. Also, as you can see in the attached image, when I enable GPU acc., this blue area flashes up momentarily on startup. It's no big deal, it goes away, I just wanted to point out that it only happens when acc. is enabled.

*** update ***

A day later, editing a batch of 60-ish photos, LR locked-up again with a spinning "busy" cursor when I selected the crop tool on the second-last photo. I've never had such problems before I installed LR CC just the other day, having used LR from version 3 upwards. I've had an occasional slowdown when I've been editing hundreds of photos in one session, and very occasional lock-ups, even then only every few weeks or so, but this version seems terribly unstable in comparison.
