Lightroom 6 keeps crashing when in Slideshow module on a MacBook Pro with latest OS-X. I've tried on several occasions to report this to Adobe, but I get no response. I am not using GPU. Can anybody help to fix..?

Sorry to hear that. Are you using the latest Lr 6.1.1/Lr CC 2015.1.1? Note that slideshow uses the GPU for the playback that cannot be turned off. Since you have the latest Mac OS, so the display driver should be latest. If you have an older hardware, the display driver might not be updated. But I cannot know the nature of the crash unless you give me more info.

Can you copy and paste the config info from your Lightroom's system info dialog under Help menu?

Also did you submit the crash log to Adobe with your name and email address (so that we could identify the crash report as from you?

Thanks. Did you submit the crash log to Adobe?

Also, what are the steps that you do in the slideshow module when it crashed? Did you apply an music clip to a slideshow? Can you normally play a video in the library module without Lightroom crashing?

Hello Simon,

When it crashes, I answer 'yes' to the question to automatically send the error log to Apple - but it doesn't ask to send it to Adobe. Q. How do I send it to Adobe..?

In slideshow mode, I actually do very little, the software crashes almost immediately. I do however have music clips (just a single one) appended to each slideshow.

I do not use video clips, so I haven't tried to run one in the library module.

Q. Could you discern anything from the configuration file I sent previously...?

Kind Regards,
Kevin Pascoe

After the Apple crash dialog comes up, the Adobe crash dialog appears. Apple does not share the crash reports, so you have to send the report separately to Adobe so we can see what happened.

If you told the Adobe crash report dialog to not show again, you can fix that by deleting the file ~/Library/Preferences/com.adobe.crashreporter.plist

We have a known crash bug that happens when one apply a certain category of music track to the slideshow. We're looking to fix it. Without the crash log, I cannot tell if it is the same issue that you ran into. If you don't apply the music track to the slideshow, does Lr crash?

Hello again Simon,

It is difficult to answer your question. This is because every time I attempt to create a new slideshow, LR automatically shows a music track attached to it. When I try to delete the music track, LR crashes. I cannot find a crash log for it (Chris directed me to a certain file in the Library module, but the file does not seem to exist on my system). Q. Is there a way to create a slideshow without LR automatically appending a piece of music to it..? Also, is there a certain class of music track that you know to work ok with LR..?

Kind Regards,
Kevin Pascoe

Hello Chris,

I do not recall ever seeing an Adobe Crash Report in addition to the Apple one. However, in case I have indeed stopped it from showing again, I've had a look at the directory you've indicated. Unfortunately, the file you mention does not exist in my library. I've attached a grabshot of the 3 files that do exist in case the one I need is there, but under a different name.

Kind Regards,
Kevin Pascoe

Make sure you are looking in ~/Library and not in /Library

That file should exist if you've launched any Adobe application on your system.

Sorry Chris - we've reached the point where I feel like an idiot.... I've so far used the 'Go' facility to find the 'Library' folder. I cannot see a way to determine if it's /Library or tild/Library - and, I cannot see another folder named 'Library'. Q. Is there some obvious way to find it...? Rgds.

Holding down the option key and using the Go menu in the Finder gets you ~/Library (your personal library) as opposed to the root level /Library. Yes, Apple could have made that less confusing....

Hi Kevin,

I looked up for crash report by your email address. I can confirm that it is a known crash and a fix has been made for the next scheduled Lightroom dot release (ie. Lr 6.2). Please check it out when the release is available.

My Lightroom 6.1.1 keeps crashing in the Slideshow Module. I have just sent Adobe a crash report with my email address: tmiller225@cox.net

I have a mix of 377 pictures and videos (videos do play fine in Library Module). I have a mix of mp3 & mp4a music, but Slideshow Module crashes with or without music selected.

I am using a late 2014 Mac Mini with OS X Yosemite, 3 GHz Intel Core i7, 16 GB memory, Intel Iris 1536 MB graphics. My software is up to date.

Can you help me resolve this problem?

Just to let you know that version 6.2.1 has solved the Slideshow / music sampling crash problem - but it has introduced other problems. LR6.2.1 now seems to 'hang' quite frequently. It is extremely slow on my new MacBook Pro, and certain tasks just don't seem to complete (like moving stuff to the trash). I often have to Force Quit the application just to get out of it. If find that 6.2.1 is virtually unusable as a result, and I have subsequently gone back to an earlier version. This of course means that it crashes again in Slideshow mode....

Hi Terry, I can see that your crash is due to the same issue which was fixed in Lr 6.2.1. There are some reported stability issues with Lr 6.2.1 for some customers. You could either give it a try or wait till Lr 6.3 is available.

You can follow http://www.lightroomqueen.com/how-do-i-roll-back-to-lightroom-2015-1-1-or-lightroom-6-1-1/ to revert back to Lr 6.1.1 if Lr 6.2.1 does not work out for you.
