During face recognition, lightroom 6 (with last update) crashes too frequently. What action to try ? or can I send you debug information ?

Have you got graphics card performance turned off? If not, try it.

Have you tried deleting or renaming (change the agprefs to agold) the Prefs files? Corruption in this file is often the cause of unexplained happenings. Make sure you delete or rename any old Prefs files, or LR will cannabalize them to create a new one, instead of creating one from scratch. The downside is that you have to set your prefs again, but no big deal. If this doesn't work, you can still go back to your old prefs file by renaming it back to agprefs

Based on the crash log, I suspect there might be a compatibility problem with the particular type of CPU that you have. The particular dll (libfrsdk-8.6.0.dll) is a library that Adobe licensed from a third party. We had only one instance of crash report that looks like this (fixed) during the development that was traced to the hardware (CPU).

1. Can you copy and paste the text from your Lightroom's System Info dialog and indicate the type of CPU that you have?
2. Can you tell if it would crash on any photos or only a particular one? You might need to start with a brand new catalog and start experimenting to isolate a problematic photo (if there is one).
3. Try it on a secondary Windows machine if you have one, does it make any difference?

2) Now Lighroom has finished the full face recognition processing (with many, many, many crashes...), but now crash when I ask to Find Similar Faces on any face. Difficult (and no really the time) for me to isolate problematic photo... I will investigate that point next week

3) I have just try on my laptop : same crashes. I tested also my memories with memtest86 : no problem deteted

Thanks for your help

The latest version of LR 6/CC is 6.1.1 - two updates since 6.0 was released which cured a lot of bugs. From your last post, you seem to be using 6.0; is that correct?

Hi Bob, Simon,

Exact, I forgot to re-install last updates after my unsinstall/new install... No difference between 6.0 (desktop) and 6.1.1 (my laptop) : crash

I have identified a group of few pictures in a very reduced catalog. If I request "Find Similar Faces", lightroom crashes immediatly.

I tried to remove and reimport them : no more crash on face recognition. I think my catalog was corrupted during the update from Lightroom 5...

I came back to a backup file from LR5 and reopen it in LR6 then restart face recognition. At this time, 15000 pictures analysed without crash :-) Actually 6.0 as I forgot to update... I will wait full analysis then update LR6 and inform you

Thanks

Good to hear that you made some progress. Once the dust is settled, do you might send me a link to the reduced catalog that causes Lr to crash? Just zip and upload the .lrcat catalog itself. Thanks.

Thank you. I can reproduce the crash here. Please feel free to remove the shared catalog. To resolve this problem would require a bit of time because there is third party component involved.

Is there any news on this issue? I'm still having the same problem, even with 6.2.1 on a fresh Win 10 system.

Same issue here, it seems to crash when finding similar faces, every single time after the X known faces are loaded, it crashes. Complete new install v6.7, new machine, different graphics card (off/on). Where can i look for more information on my crash? Any more news?
