Lightroom 6/CC: Map module keyboard shortcuts broken/inconsistent (Win 8)

The keyboard shortcuts in the map module are inconsistent/broken. The user documentation (https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/hel...) does not list any keyboard shortcuts for the map module, however, the old keyboard shortcuts +, = , - work sometimes (these used to work correctly in previous versions of Lightroom). It seems that the keyboard shortcuts work when you have given focus to certain UI elements before using them. For example, when the last click was on the toolbar (any component of the grey bar that has the zoom slider and Map Style), the +, = and - allow you to zoom in and out, however once you have panned on the map (clicked and dragged on the map), they no longer work.

Tested under Lightroom version: 6.1 [ 1025654 ] / Windows.

Steps to reproduce:
1) Load the map module.
2) Pan on the map using the mouse.
3) Press +, = or -. (The map will not zoom in or out).
4) Click on the tool bar [the grey bar with map style selector].
5) Press +, = or -. (The map will zoom in or out).
6) Pan on the map using the mouse.
7) Press +, = or -. (The map will not zoom in or out).
8) Select an image from the film strip, by clicking on it with the mouse.
9) Press +, = or -. (The map will zoom in or out).

This is an essential feature for me as I must use a trackball which does not have a scroll wheel and the zoom slider is too slow (click pan, click zoom click pan, click zoom vs click pan + '+' or '-').

Thanks for your help.

Interesting, +/- works just fine on my LR CC 2015.1 / OS X 10.10.3, but on Windows 8.1 I observe the same bug.

Here's a faster workaround that works for me on Windows: After panning with the mouse, immediately do a single click on the map. Then the +/- shortcuts will work again.

Note that many shortcuts have always been missing from the documentation. The most authoritative list I know of is: http://www.lightroomqueen.com/keyboar...

Hi John. Thanks for confirming this issue under Windows and confirming that it is not an issue under Mac. Thanks also for the suggested work around.

Now that we have confirmed this issue and which platforms it effects, does any one know if there is anything we can do to increase the chance that Adobe Lightroom developers notice this issue and fix it?

Thanks.

This forum is the official Adobe feedback forum, where they've requested all feature requests, bug reports, and product feedback be posted. They say they read every post, and historically it appears they do at least glance at all of them.

The best you can do is to get others who experience the problem to add their vote and opinion to this thread.

I have updated to LR 6.1.1 and I have confirmed that this bug is still present (it isn't mentioned in the release notes).

Tested under Lightroom version: Lightroom version: 6.1.1 [ 1032027 ] / Windows.

Others if you can re-verify and post that this is a genuine bug so that we can have a chance of getting this fixed.

Thanks for your help and support.

I have updated to LR 6.3.0 and I have again confirmed that this bug is still present (it isn't explicitly mentioned in the release notes).

Lightroom version: 6.3 [ 1052427 ]
License: Perpetual
Operating system: Windows 10
Version: 10.0

What does it take to get a developer to notice and fix a genuine persistent bug that has been confirmed by multiple users and has a reproducible test case???

2 years since notified, 9 months since confirmed as a bug and still no fix :(

Will be interesting to see if it still a bug in the next version.
