This is a question for my own information because I try to help people on the Lightroom forum. I'm using Lightroom CC. But some who are purchasing Lightroom 6 are insisting that they must be connected to the Internet in order to use it. I just want to know how Lightroom 6 works in relationship to the Internet.

No.

If you have a subscription, then you will need network connectivity once in a while to validate the subscription (like every few weeks).

Is the Internet required to "activate" it? I was trying to help someone last night and they insisted that they were forced to be on the Internet. Since I am using Lightroom CC I wasn't able to provide the assistance.

Yes, you do require a network connection to first download and activate the software. That applies to a perpetual or subscription license.
