Lightroom 6.8 won't open

I've had lightroom 6.8 for just over a week and it was presenting problems with uploading live photos from my phone but I was able to get it sorted out. However, that was the last thing I was able to do with lightroom as now it won't even open. I click on the icon and the title screen opens then it freezes and I have to force a quit. Help, please!

Revert to a previous version that works better. Adobe's instructions are here: http://ow.ly/36XZ307Hvfh
Until Adobe fixes all the countless bugs in this new version, it's better to stick with one of the earlier, more usable versions. As far as I can tell, there were no new useful features in this the .8 release, and tons of new bugs that made it unusable.

Actually, I briefly reverted to the original 2015 (6.0) release and was amazed how much faster and usable Lightroom used to be.

Laura,
Does the problem still persist?
Could you please let us know the operating system you use?

Thanks,
Sunil

Still persisting. I tried an older version of lightroom and it will open and show all of my files but the "pictures" are empty frames (it shows that the picture is there but it is empty). For example, the current book I am working on has all the pages, all the pictures spots and all of the text but the "frames" are empty despite it showing that the total number of pictures is still correct. I am on MacOS Sierra 10.12.1
