Lightroom 6.8 won't open

I've had lightroom 6.8 for just over a week and it was presenting problems with uploading live photos from my phone but I was able to get it sorted out. However, that was the last thing I was able to do with lightroom as now it won't even open. I click on the icon and the title screen opens then it freezes and I have to force a quit. Help, please!

Windows or Mac? Creative Cloud version or perpetual version? Which version #?

Try pressing Shift+Option (Mac) or Shift+Alt (Windows) keys down when launching Lightroom. There is a dialog comes up that ask to confirm to reset the Lightroom user preferences. Reset the preference and see if Lightroom launches correctly?

Mac perpetual version. No luck with Shift+Option. It asked me to reset preference and then opened to the title screen and froze.

If that doesn't help, reboot to Safe Boot (Mac: Shift key down until it says "safe boot"). Or run Onyx (google it, run the "Automation" tab). Or create a new Library by holding Option when you launch LR.

Thanks. Gave all suggestions a try without any luck. Did manage to gain a couple GB by running Onyx though.

Yup, love my Onyx! OK, now try "uninstall" LR in the Creative Cloud pane, and then reinstall it. Then start it with a New Catalog (hold option for this choice).
