Lightroom 6.2.1 new import dialog hunts through local system folders looking for photos to display as thumbnails without asking?

I have avoided installing the update to 6.2.1 on my primary machine because many of the missing features are things I use.

However, I decided to do a fresh install on another machine to evaluate all of the changes myself. I've noticed that the new import dialog on first launch has created and displayed thumbnails of photos in all of my local folders without asking me... Not just designated system picture folders but any folders it found images in. It allows you to ignore those folders in the future but I believe it should not be indexing or "browsing" through folders that I have not specified...

Can you explain what you concern with that would be Christian, since it's a localised search (i.e. the information isn't sent anywhere)?

Victoria, the concern I would have is one of performance and control/focus over what I want to import. I have thousands of images on my local drives and folders. Would this not slow everything down at the time of initial import?

Also why would I want this to happen when I want to import a selected number of images? Hopefully this is an artifact of the new import process that will be rolled back with the next dot release

That makes sense. No it only searches a limited number of locations, and if you turn off the Add Photos screen, it doesn't search at all. But as it turns out, it's all disappearing when they roll back anyway.
