Lightroom 5: Starting with an Empty Catalog?

Hi everybody!
I'm new to Lightroom (I'm using 5), and am immediately stuck. I imported some images from a disc. I'm in Library. Images are there. I have a screen full of images.

But I'm done with these images for now. I have training video I'm going to watch now (I can definitely use some training), and I want to start fresh with no images in the center area of the screen.
How do I clear these images so I can Import new images and follow the training video? The video I'm watching is starting with no images in the catalog. God, I know this question is stupid. Forgive me, I'm new.
Thank you, thank you.

Rob

If you want to keep the existing Catalog, you can simply create a second, new catalog by selecting File>New Catalog...

If you want to keep the same catalog, you select all the photos and right-click and select "Remove Photos" and click the [Remove] button in the dialog (don't delete the photos from disk).

Thank you Jeffrey, very much. Hmmm. Im a little unsure about the terms "existing catalog" and "same catalog". I'll check the links you sent and maybe that will clear it up.
Thanks for the links too.
