Lightroom 5: Stopped importing files

my lightroom 5 has stopped importing files to my hard drive, it just says 'files are not readable'.also my destinationion folder on the hand pane has disappeared ,so there is nowhere to save my files to.This is causing lots of angst, can anyone help.ps I am using mac os sierra 10.12.6

No idea... I did not get such problem. Perhaps is it due to LR5 that could be not any more ale to run on Sierra????

But don't panic, if you don't change picture name (file name), just make import using Finder functions.

"destination folder....disappeared"  suggests two reasons-
1. You are using the "ADD" option above the main central window (in which case there is not a need for a destination)  Use "Copy" instead.
2. The most likely reason!- The Panel is hidden. Right-click on any of the other panel headers (eg. File Handling) and place a check-mark next to 'Destination' or click "Show all"

"files are not readable" means that Lightroom cannot find a suitable Destination folder to 'Copy' your photos into (so it says "i cannot waste time reading them"). Make the Destination panel visible ( 2. above) , choose a folder location, then in the operating system make sure this folder has full Read and Write permissions and is on an available hard-drive. ('No' permissions is the most common problem for this error)
