Lightroom 32bit tiff preview shows discrepancy between Develop module and Library module

When creating 32 bit tiff files in Photoshop then importing into Lightroom - I can consistently get it so that Lightroom only updates the preview for the library module and not the develop module (it will show an old version of the tiff file).

For example I have a 32 bit tiff file (these are around 1.5GB).

This is generally what happens.

- I import the tiff into Lightroom and play around with it in Lightroom.
- Right click and edit in external application (ie photoshop)
- I add a few things, change a few layers in Photoshop
- Back in Lightroom the library module will rebuild the preview for the tiff but if I change into the develop module it shows the old tiff file and does not update.

This is not 100% reproducible but I have found it happens more often than not in huge files.

I have found the best way to force a refresh preview in the develop module is to go to another folder, switch from library to develop then back to the 32bit tiff file and go from library to develop which will then force lightroom to rebuild the preview in the develop module. However this gets annoying every time a change is made in photoshop to get lightroom to update the preview.

Please consider an option in the menu to force a refresh of the preview. thanks.

I have the same problem since LR CC. Develop will keep working on an old version of the file even if I invoked the Edit in Photoshop from Lightroom itself.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled LR CC Develop Module does not read the underlying file when changes are made exte....

LR CC 2015.1.1 Develop Module does not "read" the underlying file so as to reflect changes when edited externally. Those changes are visible in the Library but not in Develop unless one quits and re-starts.
